Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Karcher KM35/5 — 18V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BD0810)
This is an 18V Li-ion replacement battery rated at 2500mAh (45Wh), built to the same electrical spec as Karcher part BD0810. It fits the KM35/5 compact push sweeper and powers the brush motor directly. When the original pack degrades and the sweeper loses power mid-run, this is the unit to swap in.
- KM35/5 platform fit: The KM35/5 runs its brush motor off an 18V rail with a specific connector footprint and BMS handshake. This pack matches that rail voltage, connector geometry, and communication protocol — the sweeper's onboard electronics will recognise it without any pairing step.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated brush-motor start sequences and monitored the BMS response to inrush current spikes at startup. The protection circuit held within spec across all test cycles, and cell voltage balanced correctly after each discharge.
- Brush motor start cycling: Each time the KM35/5 sweeper starts from rest, the brush motor draws a short inrush spike before settling to running current. Avoid starting and stopping the sweeper repeatedly in quick succession — back-to-back cold starts stack inrush events and can trip the BMS overcurrent threshold prematurely.
BMS cutoff on brush motor inrush at startup
The KM35/5 brush motor pulls a current spike the moment the sweeper engages — this is normal, but a degraded or deeply discharged pack may trip the BMS overcurrent protection before the motor reaches steady-state draw. The BMS interprets the spike as a fault and shuts down the cell output to protect the pack. On a new replacement pack, this is unlikely unless the cells have dropped below the charger acceptance threshold after storage. Charge the pack fully to 18V before first use to ensure the BMS initialises correctly.
Charger light stays red and never switches to green
If the Karcher charger blinks or holds red when you connect this pack, the cell voltage has likely dropped below the charger's acceptance floor during storage — most Li-ion chargers will not begin a charge cycle if the pack reads below approximately 12–14V. This is a self-discharge issue, not a faulty battery. Some chargers have a recovery or boost mode; if yours does, activate it to bring the cells up to acceptance voltage. If the charger has no boost mode, a compatible Li-ion recovery charger set to 18V nominal will bring the pack back into the chargeable range.

Frequently Asked Questions
My KM35/5 sweeper cuts out the moment I engage the brush — why does it die instantly on startup?
The brush motor draws a short inrush current spike when it starts from rest, and if the pack's state of charge is low, the BMS reads that spike as an overcurrent event and shuts down output before the motor settles. This is a protection trip, not a dead battery. Fully charge the pack first — cell voltage needs to be at the top of the 18V range before the BMS will allow high-current startup draws without tripping. If the cutout continues on a fully charged pack, check the terminal contacts on the sweeper for oxidation or debris reducing contact area.
The sweeper runs fine for the first few passes, then bogs down and loses brush speed under load — what causes that?
This is voltage sag — as the pack discharges under sustained brush-motor load, internal cell resistance causes the rail voltage to drop below what the motor needs to maintain speed. It is more pronounced if the pack has been repeatedly shallow-cycled, which accelerates capacity fade in Li-ion cells. Clean the terminal contacts on both the pack and the sweeper with a dry cloth to rule out contact resistance adding to the sag. If the problem appears early in the discharge cycle on a new pack, allow the pack to complete two full charge-discharge cycles before assessing performance.
The sweeper works indoors but noticeably loses power when I use it outside in cold weather — is the battery damaged?
No — Li-ion cells see a real rise in internal resistance below 5°C, which limits how much current the pack can deliver to the brush motor without voltage sag. The KM35/5 is used outdoors on hard surfaces, so cold-weather performance drop is a known operating condition, not a fault. Store the charged pack indoors at room temperature and fit it to the sweeper just before use — this keeps the cells warm for the first passes when the motor-start inrush is highest. Capacity recovers fully once the cells warm up during use.
