Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Einhell RG-CH 18 Li — 18V Li-ion Replacement Battery (RG-CH 18 Li)
This is an 18V 3000mAh (54Wh) Li-ion battery for the Einhell RG-CH 18 Li cordless hedge trimmer. It slots into the tool's battery bay and restores full cutting power when the original pack has degraded. Capacity figures are taken directly from the product specification — 3000mAh at 18V nominal.
- RG-CH 18 Li platform fit: The RG-CH 18 Li hedge trimmer runs an 18V Li-ion rail with a specific connector orientation and BMS handshake protocol. This pack matches that rail voltage, connector pin layout, and communication signal so the tool recognises it without throwing a fault code.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated motor-start inrush events on the bench. The BMS held its overcurrent threshold steady across multiple trigger-pull events without tripping, and cell voltage recovery between cuts stayed within normal bounds.
- First-use break-in on hedge trimmers: On the first two uses, run trimming passes on lighter, thinner growth rather than thick woody stems. This lets the BMS log the motor's inrush current signature before it locks overcurrent protection thresholds — reducing the chance of nuisance cutoffs on heavier cuts later.
BMS cutoff on trigger pull during hedge trimming
When the RG-CH 18 Li blade engages, the motor draws a short inrush spike — often two to three times the running current — before settling. A new pack fresh from storage may have cells sitting at a lower resting voltage, which makes the internal resistance higher. That combination pushes the instantaneous current spike above the BMS overcurrent threshold, tripping a protective shutoff before the blade reaches speed. Charge the pack fully to 18V before the first use and let it rest for ten minutes off charge before inserting it into the tool.
Charger not recognising a new pack after storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge during shipping and warehouse storage — if they drop below approximately 2.5V per cell, many chargers refuse to begin a charge cycle and signal the fault with a blinking red LED. This is a charger acceptance voltage floor, not a dead battery. Some Einhell chargers include a recovery or "wake" mode — hold the pack on charge for five minutes and check whether the LED shifts from red blink to solid. If the charger supports a manual recovery cycle, activate it; cell voltage should recover above 3.0V per cell within the first few minutes of trickle input.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Einhell RG-CH 18 Li cuts out instantly when I pull the trigger on thick branches — is the battery faulty?
That's a BMS overcurrent trip, not a faulty cell. The motor draws a heavy inrush spike the moment the blade engages dense wood, and if the pack's resting voltage is low, higher internal resistance pushes that spike past the BMS cutoff threshold. Charge the battery fully and let it sit off the charger for ten minutes before use. If cutouts continue on thick stems, clear the blade guard of debris so the motor isn't fighting additional resistance on start — the pack should hold through clean inrush draws.
The hedge trimmer feels sluggish and bogs down mid-cut even with a freshly charged battery — what's happening?
That's voltage sag under sustained load. As the blade works through a long continuous pass, current draw stays high, and if there's any oxidation or debris on the battery contact rails, resistance in that connection causes the voltage at the tool to drop below what the motor needs to maintain blade speed. Pull the pack out, wipe the gold contact pads on both the battery and the tool bay with a dry cloth, reseat the pack firmly, and retry. If the contacts are clean and sag continues, check that the pack is reading a full 18V resting voltage with a multimeter before insertion.
The new battery worked fine in summer but the hedge trimmer now barely starts in cold weather — is something wrong with the pack?
Nothing is wrong — this is normal Li-ion behaviour below 5°C. Cold temperatures raise cell internal resistance significantly, which limits the current the pack can deliver on motor start and reduces available capacity across the cut. Store the battery indoors at room temperature and fit it into the tool just before you go outside. Avoid leaving it in an unheated shed or car boot overnight before use — starting with a pack at 18–20°C will restore normal blade engagement and cutting throughput.
