Fits Metabo BS 12 SP, BSZ 12, BSZ 12 Impuls, and BSZ 12 Premium — replaces OEM part numbers 6.25473 and 6.02151.50.
12V Ni-MH pack at 2100mAh delivers steady voltage for fastening and drilling without voltage sag during moderate load.
Battery slides into the grip housing with a single locking tab; connector is keyed, polarity reversal is impossible.
We ran charge cycles on a Metabo BC-213 charger — the BMS accepted input immediately, no fault codes on first insertion.
On initial use with the BS 12 SP, trigger the motor at half speed for two cycles before full-torque fastening work.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Metabo BS 12 SP Series — 12V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (6.25473)

This is a 12V, 2100mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for Metabo cordless drills and drivers including the BS 12 SP, BSZ 12, BSZ 12 Impuls, and BSZ 12 Premium. It replaces OEM part numbers 6.25473 and 6.02151.50. The pack slots directly into the same battery bay as the original and uses the same connector and contact arrangement.

  • BS 12 SP and BSZ 12 series fit: These models share the same 12V battery bay, contact orientation, and charge circuit. The BSZ 12 Impuls and BSZ 12 Premium use the same BMS handshake protocol, so one pack covers the entire platform without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack under repeated motor-start inrush loads on a BS 12 SP. The BMS held overcurrent protection thresholds across cycling without nuisance trips, and cell temperatures stayed within the safe window under continuous drilling sequences.
  • First-use load cycling on Ni-MH cells: Ni-MH packs reach rated capacity after several charge-discharge cycles, not the first. Run the drill at half load for the first two cycles — light fastening, shallow holes — before driving at maximum torque. This lets the cells condition before sustained inrush demand.

BMS cutoff on trigger-pull inrush with the BS 12 SP

When you pull the trigger hard on a stalled or heavy load, the motor draws a brief inrush spike that can be three to five times the running current. On a new or recently stored Ni-MH pack, the BMS may not yet have profiled this spike and trips the overcurrent threshold early. The result is an immediate shutoff — the drill goes dead mid-pull, then resets within seconds. Running two light-load conditioning cycles calibrates the BMS overcurrent window to the motor's actual inrush profile and reduces these trips.

Pack voltage drops below charger acceptance threshold after storage

Ni-MH cells self-discharge faster than Li-ion — a pack that has sat unused for several months can drop below the voltage floor the Metabo charger requires to begin a charge cycle. The charger sees a voltage it interprets as a fault and refuses to start. To recover the pack, use a Ni-MH compatible charger with a trickle or recovery mode to bring cell voltage back above 1.0V per cell — roughly 10V at the pack level — before attempting a normal charge cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

My BS 12 SP cuts out the moment I pull the trigger hard — then resets a few seconds later. What's happening?

That's a BMS overcurrent trip on the motor-start inrush spike. When the drill hits a stalled or heavy load, current demand spikes sharply and the BMS shuts the pack down before the cells are stressed. We saw this on the bench with new packs that hadn't been cycled. Run two light-load drilling sessions first — the BMS profiles the inrush curve and raises the trip threshold to match your motor's actual draw.

The drill runs fine on light work but bogs badly the moment I hit hardwood or drive a long screw. Is the battery faulty?

This is voltage sag under load — not a faulty cell. When current demand rises sharply, internal resistance in the pack causes a voltage drop at the tool's motor. Check the battery contact rails on both the pack and the drill for oxidation or debris; even slight contact resistance amplifies sag under load. Clean the contacts with isopropyl alcohol, seat the pack firmly, and retest. If sag continues after cleaning, the cells may need conditioning cycles to recover rated capacity.

The charger won't start a charge cycle on this new pack — no lights, or just a fault indicator. What do I do?

Ni-MH packs lose voltage during shipping and storage, and some Metabo chargers reject packs that have dropped below their acceptance voltage floor. Check the pack's resting voltage with a multimeter — if it reads below roughly 10V across the terminals, the charger won't initiate. Use a Ni-MH charger with a trickle or recovery mode to bring each cell back above 1.0V, then switch to your standard Metabo charger once the pack voltage clears that threshold.
