Fits Ryobi BIW-1465 impact wrench; replaces B-1430L, B-1425L, B-1415L battery packs.
14.4V 2200mAh Li-ion delivers steady voltage under high-torque fastening without sag on the wrench motor.
Slide connector locks into the BIW-1465 battery slot with a positive-side flat contact and rear alignment tab.
Tested on Ryobi charger — BMS accepted full charge cycle in 45 minutes with no thermal throttle.
On first fastening session, apply mid-torque for two bolt cycles before maximum-effort tightening to let the BMS profile motor inrush current.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Ryobi BIW-1465 / BID-1440 Series — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (B-1430L)

This is a 14.4V 2200mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Ryobi BIW-1465 impact wrench and BID-1440 / BID-143 / BID-142 drill series. It replaces OEM part numbers B-1430L, B-1425L, and B-1415L. The pack slots into the same bay and uses the same BMS communication protocol as the original.

  • BIW-1465 and BID-series compatibility: These tools share the same 14.4V slide-rail connector and BMS handshake. One battery platform covers impact wrench and drill duties across the range without needing separate packs.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through repeated trigger-pull cycles on the BIW-1465. The BMS held its overcurrent threshold steady through high-torque fastening sequences and recovered cleanly after each load spike.
  • Motor inrush conditioning on first use: On first use, run the tool at half load for two cycles before applying full torque. This lets the BMS profile the motor's inrush current draw before locking in its overcurrent protection thresholds — avoids nuisance trips on hard starts.

BMS overcurrent trip on trigger pull in the BIW-1465

Impact wrenches pull a short, sharp inrush current the moment the motor engages — far higher than the sustained running current. If the BMS has not yet profiled this spike, it can flag it as a fault and cut the pack instantly. This is not a faulty battery; it is the protection circuit behaving correctly with no learned baseline. Two break-in cycles at partial load give the BMS enough data to distinguish a normal start surge from a genuine overcurrent event. After that, full-torque use proceeds without nuisance cutoffs.

Tool bogs under load despite a full charge indicator

Voltage sag under heavy fastening load is usually a contact resistance problem, not a cell problem. Corroded or worn slide-rail contacts add resistance between the pack and the tool, causing the voltage at the motor to drop even when the cells are healthy. Clean the battery terminal contacts and the tool's rail contacts with isopropyl alcohol and a firm brush. After cleaning, check that resting voltage reads between 15.6V and 16.8V — if it does, the cells are fine and the sag was contact-driven.

Frequently Asked Questions

My BIW-1465 cuts out the instant I pull the trigger on a tight bolt — is the battery tripping?

Yes — this is a BMS overcurrent trip caused by the motor-start inrush spike hitting the protection threshold before the circuit has a baseline for this pack. It is not a defective battery. Run two cycles at half load first, tightening lighter fasteners, so the BMS can profile the normal inrush draw. After those two cycles, full-torque use on stuck or seized bolts should stop triggering cutoffs.

The charger's LED flashes red and never moves to green on this new pack — what's wrong?

A pack that has sat in storage can drop below the charger's acceptance voltage, and most Ryobi 14.4V chargers refuse to begin a full charge cycle below roughly 10V per pack. Check the pack's resting voltage with a multimeter — if it reads below 10V, the charger will keep rejecting it. Some chargers have a recovery or trickle mode; hold the pack on charge for 15–20 minutes in that mode to bring cells above the acceptance threshold, then restart the normal charge cycle.

The BIW-1465 feels noticeably weaker in temperatures below about 5°C — is the battery going bad?

Cold weather is the cause, not cell failure. Li-ion internal resistance rises sharply below 5°C, which reduces the current the pack can deliver and makes the tool feel underpowered under torque load. Warm the battery to room temperature before use — store it indoors before a cold-weather job rather than leaving it in a vehicle overnight. Once the pack is back above 15°C, full output returns and no intervention is needed.
