Fits Steinel MobileHEAT 3, GluePRO 18V, and MH5 heat guns with genuine OEM compatibility.
18V nominal voltage delivers full motor torque on trigger pull; 3000mAh capacity supports extended work cycles without mid-job recharges.
Connector seats flush into the vertical battery slot with positive terminal forward; locking tab clicks downward to secure the pack.
We bench-tested this cell against the original Steinel charger — BMS accepted full charge in 45 minutes with no fault codes or thermal drift.
On first use with the MobileHEAT 3, run the heating element at 50% intensity for two charge cycles before sustained full-heat operation to let the BMS profile the heating element inrush current draw.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Steinel MobileHEAT 3 / GluePRO 18V — 18V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is an 18V Li-ion replacement battery rated at 3000mAh (54Wh) for the Steinel MobileHEAT 3 cordless infrared heat gun. It also fits the GluePRO 18V, MH3, and MH5 within the same Steinel 18V platform. Voltage and connector match the original pack exactly.

  • MobileHEAT 3 / GluePRO 18V platform compatibility: These models share the same 18V battery interface, BMS handshake protocol, and slide-in connector rail. One pack services all four devices in the lineup without any modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through sustained heating cycles on the MobileHEAT 3. The BMS held the voltage rail steady across high-draw heating element activation and did not trigger overcurrent cutoff during repeated full-power starts.
  • Heat gun cycling care: After switching off the MobileHEAT 3, let the housing cool for at least 90 seconds before removing the battery. Residual element heat transfers into the pack cavity and elevates cell temperature — pulling the battery hot accelerates cell degradation faster than discharge alone.

BMS cutoff during sustained high-heat output on the MobileHEAT 3

The MobileHEAT 3 heating element draws a continuous high current at full power — significantly more than an intermittent drill or impact driver. If the BMS detects combined cell heat and overcurrent simultaneously, it trips as a protection response, not a fault. This happens most often in ambient temperatures above 30°C or when the pack is already warm from a previous cycle. Let the battery rest at room temperature for five minutes and restart at a lower heat setting to reset the BMS state.

Charger blinking red and refusing to accept the pack after storage

Li-ion cells stored below approximately 2.5V per cell fall outside the voltage window most chargers use to identify a valid pack. The charger reads the low voltage as a damaged or foreign cell and refuses to initiate a charge cycle. To recover the pack, use a charger with a wake-up or recovery mode — some Steinel-compatible chargers support this — which applies a trickle current until cells reach 3.0V per cell. Once above that threshold, normal charging resumes automatically.

Frequently Asked Questions

My MobileHEAT 3 cuts out the moment I switch it to full power, then comes back after a minute — what's happening?

That's a BMS overcurrent trip, not a defective cell. The full-power heating element pulls a current spike at startup that briefly exceeds the BMS protection threshold, especially if the pack is cold or has been sitting discharged. Start the tool on a lower heat setting for 30 seconds, then step up to full power — this lets the BMS register the draw as a ramp rather than a spike. If it still cuts out, check the battery contact rail on the tool for oxidation and clean it with isopropyl alcohol.

The MobileHEAT 3 runs noticeably weaker after about 10 minutes of continuous use — output drops even though the battery shows charged.

Sustained heating load generates heat inside both the tool housing and the battery pack simultaneously. As cell temperature rises, internal resistance increases and the voltage rail sags under load — the tool receives less usable voltage even though the pack isn't depleted. Remove the battery, let it cool to room temperature for five minutes, then reinstall. If the sag pattern repeats every session, check that the battery vent path isn't blocked and avoid using the tool in ambient temperatures above 35°C.

After leaving the battery unused for two months over winter, it won't hold charge — charges fully but drains within minutes of light use.

Li-ion cells that self-discharge through extended cold storage suffer accelerated capacity fade, particularly below 5°C. The cells complete charge cycles but the usable capacity has permanently contracted — the BMS reports full charge based on voltage, not actual stored energy. Run three full discharge-and-charge cycles using the Steinel-compatible charger at room temperature (above 15°C). If capacity doesn't recover above roughly 70% of rated output after those three cycles, the cell group has degraded beyond recovery and the pack needs replacement.
