Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Wolf Garten RR 3000 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (Li-ion Power PACK 4)
This is a 7.4V, 2000mAh (14.8Wh) lithium-ion replacement battery for the Wolf Garten RR 3000 robotic lawn mower. It replaces OEM part numbers 7264060 and 7264090, restoring autonomous mowing cycles after the original pack degrades. The battery slots into the RR 3000's battery bay and communicates directly with the mower's onboard BMS.
- RR 3000 platform fit: The RR 3000 series uses a 7.4V two-cell Li-ion pack with a specific connector orientation and BMS handshake protocol. This pack matches that voltage rail and connector pinout, so the mower's control board recognises the battery and runs scheduled mowing cycles without fault codes.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on the RR 3000 platform. The BMS held charge termination correctly at 8.4V and engaged undervoltage protection at the expected low-cell threshold — no erratic cutoffs during testing.
- Robotic mower recharge timing: The RR 3000 auto-docks and recharges between scheduled cycles. Avoid leaving the battery fully discharged inside the mower for extended periods — if the mower misses its dock and sits idle for weeks, cell voltage can drop below the charger's acceptance threshold, requiring a manual recovery charge before the dock station will re-engage.
Why the RR 3000 stops mid-cycle and returns to dock early
The RR 3000's control board monitors cell voltage in real time during mowing. When the battery voltage sags under load — typically when the blade motor hits dense grass or an incline — the BMS may read a transient low-voltage event and trigger an early return-to-dock command. This is not a fault with the dock or the boundary wire. On an aged or partially depleted pack, voltage sag becomes more pronounced because internal cell resistance increases as capacity degrades. A fresh pack at full charge holds the voltage rail stable enough that the control board does not trigger premature dock returns.
Dock station showing no charge activity on a new pack
If the dock LED shows no charge activity after fitting a new battery, the most common cause is cell voltage sitting below the dock station's charge acceptance threshold — typically below 6V for a 7.4V two-cell pack. This happens when a replacement pack has self-discharged during storage. Connect the battery to a compatible external Li-ion charger set to 7.4V and run a single low-current charge cycle until voltage reaches at least 7.0V. Once the pack is above the acceptance threshold, re-dock the mower and the station should begin its normal charge sequence.

Frequently Asked Questions
My RR 3000 keeps returning to dock after only a few minutes of mowing — is this a boundary wire fault or the battery?
This is almost always the battery, not the boundary wire. When cell voltage sags under blade-motor load, the mower's control board interprets the transient voltage drop as a low-battery condition and sends the mower back to dock. A degraded or partially discharged pack shows this behaviour before any wire fault would. Fit a fully charged replacement pack and run a full mowing cycle — if the early returns stop, the boundary wire is fine.
The RR 3000 sat unused over winter and now the dock won't charge it — what happened?
Li-ion cells self-discharge slowly during storage, and over several months the pack voltage can drop below the dock station's charge acceptance floor. The dock station will not attempt to charge a pack it reads as critically low — it sees the voltage and does nothing. Use an external Li-ion charger to bring the pack up to at least 7.0V, then re-dock the mower. The dock should recognise the pack and begin its normal charge sequence from that point.
The RR 3000 cuts fine in warm weather but bogs and stalls on cool mornings — why?
Li-ion internal resistance rises significantly below 5°C, which means the cells deliver less current under the same blade-motor load. On cool mornings, the pack may not sustain the voltage rail the motor needs through thick or damp grass, causing the mower to bog or cut out. Let the mower sit inside or in a warmer garage for 20–30 minutes before sending it out on a cold morning cycle. If the issue persists at normal temperatures, check the battery contact rails in the bay for corrosion — increased contact resistance compounds the cold-weather voltage sag.
