This is a 3.7V 2100mAh (7.77Wh) Li-Polymer battery for the Crestron MT-1000C MiniTouch Wireless Handheld Touchpanel. It also fits the C2N-DAP8, CNAMPX-16X60, CNX-PAD8A, and five additional Crestron control devices. The MT-1000C is a wireless touchscreen controller used in home automation and AV systems to manage lighting, climate, and media.

Why the MT-1000C loses wireless range before the battery reads empty

An aged cell can't sustain that spike cleanly, so range drops even though resting voltage still looks acceptable. Replacing the battery restores the voltage headroom the radio needs for full-range transmission.
Touchpanel powers on but commands stop registering at the processor
This happens when the battery can hold enough charge to light the display but not enough to complete a full RF transmission burst. The panel appears functional on screen, but the Crestron processor never receives the command. The battery's internal resistance has risen high enough that transmit pulses collapse before they reach the antenna. Swap the battery and verify the processor receives a test command from across the room.

We confirmed this on the bench — a fresh cell at 3.7V nominal resolved the issue without any reprogramming. Install the new battery and send a test command from the far end of the room to confirm.
The MT-1000C worked fine for months, then started draining noticeably faster — what causes that?
Li-Polymer cells degrade fastest when left sitting at partial charge for extended periods, which is common with AV control panels that get light daily use. Each shallow cycle that isn't followed by a full charge accelerates capacity fade. A stuck or partially depressed button on the touchpanel can also create a parasitic draw that runs the cell down overnight. Check for any buttons that don't spring back cleanly, then replace the battery.
After fitting the new battery, the MT-1000C needs to be much closer to the processor to work — is the battery faulty?
Not necessarily. The RF output threshold on the MT-1000C requires the cell to sit at or above approximately 3.5V under transmit load. If the replacement battery arrived partially discharged from storage, it may not yet have enough voltage headroom for full-range transmission. Place the panel on charge for a full cycle first. If range is still short after a complete charge, check that the battery connector is fully seated — a loose pin raises internal resistance and causes the same symptom.
