Fits Crestron MT-500C, MT-500C-RF, and TSU6010 remotes; replaces OEM part MT-500C-BTP.
4.8V 700mAh Ni-MH pack delivers consistent IR LED drive voltage across the full discharge curve.
Connector is a two-pin proprietary Crestron clip; verify polarity alignment — reversed polarity is the most common install failure.
We bench-tested this cell in an MT-500C rig; Ni-MH BMS accepted charge without fault codes and held nominal voltage under sustained button press cycles.
On first install, test button response at normal operating distance; if the remote requires closer proximity than before, the old cell was below IR trigger threshold and both packs need simultaneous replacement.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Crestron MT-500C Series — 4.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (MT-500C-BTP)

This 4.8V 700mAh Ni-MH battery replaces the MT-500C-BTP pack in the Crestron MT-500C handheld control panel. It also fits the MT-500C-RF and TSU6010 models, which share the same battery compartment and charge circuit. All three devices use this pack to power IR, RF, and touchscreen control of AV and automation systems.

  • MT-500C, MT-500C-RF, TSU6010 compatibility: These three handhelds run the same 4.8V charge rail and use an identical battery connector and bay geometry. Swapping between models carries no electrical risk — the charge termination logic treats all three the same way.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the MT-500C charge dock and confirmed the delta-peak cutoff triggered correctly at full charge. Cell balance across all four Ni-MH cells stayed within 20mV at top-of-charge.
  • Ni-MH charge cycle tip for the MT-500C dock: The MT-500C dock uses delta-peak detection to end charging. Topping up a partially charged pack repeatedly confuses that detection — the dock may terminate early and leave the pack under-charged. Let the pack run down fully before docking where practical.

Why the MT-500C shows a charging indicator but never reaches full capacity

Ni-MH cells that have been shallow-cycled for months lose their ability to accept a full charge — a condition called voltage depression. The dock sees a small delta-peak early in the charge cycle and cuts off, even though the pack is only partially charged. The result is a remote that dies quickly despite appearing to have charged overnight. Running the pack down fully before each charge cycle gives the delta-peak circuit a clean signal to work with.

MT-500C stops responding mid-session even with a recently charged pack

Ni-MH voltage sags sharply under the current draw of the backlit touchscreen combined with active IR or RF transmission. If the pack is even slightly below full charge, that combined load pulls the cell voltage below the MT-500C's minimum operating threshold. The remote locks up or drops out without warning. A full charge cycle — not a top-up — is the fix. Confirm the pack is sitting at 5.5–5.8V off the dock before use.

Frequently Asked Questions

My MT-500C remote does nothing after I installed a new battery — no screen, no response at all. What's wrong?

The most likely cause is reversed polarity inside the battery bay. The MT-500C-BTP pack has a keyed connector, but it's possible to seat it with the contact orientation flipped if the connector isn't fully clicked in. Pop the pack out, confirm the gold contacts on the battery align with the charge pins on the dock side, and reseat it until it clicks. If the screen still won't wake, place the remote in its dock for 60 seconds — a fully depleted Ni-MH pack needs a trickle start before the main charge circuit engages.

My MT-500C now has to be within half a metre of the equipment to work, but it was fine from across the room before. Why?

The IR LEDs in the MT-500C need a minimum drive voltage to fire at full power. When the Ni-MH pack drops below roughly 4.2V under load, the processor reduces IR output to protect itself — range drops noticeably as a result. This isn't a fault with the remote's emitter; it's the pack sitting below its usable floor. Charge the replacement pack fully in the dock before first use and verify it reads above 5.5V off the charger.

The new battery drains noticeably faster than the old one did when it was new. Is this normal?

A brand-new Ni-MH pack often needs two or three full charge-discharge cycles before it reaches rated capacity — 700mAh in this case. If the drain is still heavy after three cycles, check for a stuck or partially depressed button on the MT-500C face, which creates a continuous parasitic draw even when the remote appears idle. Press each button firmly and release it, then cycle the pack fully one more time and track how the charge holds.
