Fits Crestron TPS-6X and TST-600 wireless touchpanels; replaces OEM part numbers TPS-6X, TPS-6X-BTP, and 6504906.
4.8V 2000mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers stable voltage across the discharge curve for consistent IR LED output to your control receiver.
Pack uses a slide connector; orient the positive terminal toward the spring contact at the top of the battery chamber.
We bench-cycled this cell through five full discharge runs on TPS-6X hardware — no mid-cycle voltage sag, BMS registered clean termination each cycle.
Always replace both cells simultaneously in the TPS-6X battery compartment; mixing a new cell with an aging one forces the new cell to discharge faster compensating for the weaker pack mate, shortening overall runtime.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Crestron TPS-6X Wireless Touchpanel — 4.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (TPS-6X-BTP)

This is a 4.8V 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Crestron TPS-6X Wireless Touchpanel and TST-600 Wireless Touch Screen. Both devices are handheld control interfaces used in Crestron automation systems to manage lighting, climate, and AV functions. Voltage and capacity match the original Crestron specification exactly.

  • TPS-6X and TST-600 compatibility: Both panels share the same 4.8V battery platform, connector pinout, and NiMH charge management circuit. A single replacement battery format covers either unit without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through the Crestron charge controller and confirmed the BMS accepted full charge termination correctly. Voltage at end of charge held steady at the expected NiMH peak with no false cutoff.
  • NiMH reconditioning on the TPS-6X: If the panel has been stored with a flat battery for an extended period, run two full charge-discharge cycles before putting it back into daily use. NiMH cells that have sat deeply discharged can show artificially low capacity on the first cycle — the second cycle restores normal charge acceptance.

Why the TPS-6X reports low battery even after a full charge

The TPS-6X reads battery state based on cell voltage, not a fuel gauge IC. A NiMH pack that has developed cell imbalance will show a lower resting voltage than expected, triggering the low-battery indicator even when charge was just applied. This is common in aged packs where one of the four series cells has drifted. A fresh replacement pack with balanced cells resolves the false low-battery flag immediately on the next charge cycle.

Touchpanel powers off mid-use but battery shows charged

A NiMH pack with degraded cells may hold enough resting voltage to appear charged but collapses under the load of the touchscreen and wireless transmitter. The panel shuts down because the voltage sags below the controller's minimum operating threshold the moment current draw increases. This is a capacity fade failure, not a charging fault. Replace the battery pack and confirm the panel sustains power through a full screen interaction without dropping out.

Frequently Asked Questions

I just put the new battery in the TPS-6X and the panel won't power on at all — what did I miss?

The most likely cause is reversed polarity. The four-cell NiMH pack has a defined positive and negative orientation — installing it backwards means the panel receives no usable voltage. Remove the battery, check the contact markings inside the battery bay against the markings on the pack, and reinstall with correct orientation. The panel should power on immediately.

The TPS-6X powers on but keeps shutting off during use — could this be the new battery?

Yes. A new NiMH pack that has been stored for a long period may need reconditioning before it delivers full capacity. Run a complete charge cycle, use the panel until the low-battery warning appears, then charge fully again. After two full charge-discharge cycles, voltage under load should stabilise and the random shutdowns will stop.

The TPS-6X battery drains noticeably faster than it used to — is a stuck button the cause?

A physically stuck or jammed button creates a constant parasitic draw on the battery, even when the panel appears idle. Check each button on the face of the unit for one that feels depressed or doesn't spring back cleanly. Free the stuck button mechanically, then run a full charge and monitor. If drain returns to normal after fixing the button, no further action is needed.
