Fits Philips Pronto TSU-9600 and TSU-9800 remotes, replaces OEM PB9600.
3.7V 3000mAh lithium-ion cell powers LCD display and IR transmission circuits.
Connector slides into the battery compartment with positive terminal facing outward.
We bench-tested the BMS under sustained IR LED draw; voltage held stable throughout discharge cycles.
On first install, verify positive and negative terminals align with the compartment markings — reversed polarity is the primary cause of no-power symptoms after replacement.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Philips Pronto TSU-9600 / TSU-9800 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (PB9600)

This 3.7V 3000mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original PB9600 cell in the Philips Pronto TSU-9600 and TSU-9800 touchscreen universal remotes. These are high-end home theatre controllers with backlit LCD displays, onboard macros, and RF/IR transmission — all of which draw consistently from one rechargeable cell. When the original cell degrades, the screen dims, macros misfire, and transmission range drops before the battery indicator even reads low.

  • TSU-9600 and TSU-9800 compatibility: Both models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. The PB9600 cell fits either chassis without modification — the same voltage rail powers the touchscreen, backlight, and IR/RF transmitter across both units.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the TSU-9600 charging circuit and confirmed the BMS accepted the charge handshake without fault codes. Discharge curves held flat through repeated macro sequences and screen-on cycles before stepping down at the low-voltage cutoff.
  • Connector seating on the Pronto: The JST-style connector on this battery must click fully into the socket before closing the bay cover. A half-seated connector causes intermittent power loss that mimics a dead cell — press the plug in until you hear the latch engage.

Why the TSU-9600 LCD dims and macros stop completing mid-sequence

The Pronto's macro engine and backlight both pull from the same 3.7V cell simultaneously. When cell capacity drops, voltage sags under this combined load — the backlight dims first, then the processor throttles to protect itself, cutting macros short before they finish. This is not a firmware issue. The BMS is doing its job, shedding load to stay above the low-voltage cutoff. A fresh cell at full charge eliminates the sag and restores full macro execution.

TSU-9600 showing "charging" permanently but battery never reaches full

This symptom points to a degraded cell that can no longer accept a full charge cycle — the charger keeps pushing current but the cell voltage won't climb above 3.9–4.0V and the remote reports perpetual charging. The original lithium cell has likely lost enough capacity that the BMS won't flag charge completion. Swap in the replacement, dock the remote, and confirm the charge indicator clears within the normal window — the cell should reach 4.2V at full charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

I installed the new PB9600 battery and the Pronto TSU-9600 won't turn on at all — what did I go wrong?

The most likely cause is the connector not fully seated. The JST plug on this battery needs to click into the socket — if it's even slightly off, the remote gets no power and shows no signs of life. Reseat the connector until it latches, then close the bay cover and hold the power button for three seconds. If it still won't respond, check that the replacement is the correct PB9600 cell and not a different voltage variant.

After fitting the new battery, the TSU-9600 only controls devices when I point it from less than a metre away — why has the range dropped?

This usually means the battery isn't fully charged yet after install. The IR LEDs on the Pronto need the cell above roughly 3.6V to fire at full power — a cell that shipped partially discharged will work but at reduced range. Dock the remote on its charging cradle for a full charge cycle before use, and range should return to normal.

The TSU-9600 battery is draining noticeably faster since the touchscreen started staying lit between uses — what's causing it?

A stuck or partially depressed button on the touchscreen can keep the display active and prevent the remote from entering sleep mode, pulling continuous current from the cell. Run your finger across the full touch surface to check for any button that feels recessed or doesn't spring back. If no button is stuck, check the backlight timeout setting in the Pronto's setup menu and reduce the screen-on duration to the shortest available option.
