Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

I-TEC Smart Window — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (ICR18650-1S1P)

This is a 3.7V, 2600mAh Li-ion cylindrical cell replacement for the I-TEC Smart Window. It matches the ICR18650-1S1P specification and slots directly into the Smart Window's battery compartment. The Smart Window uses this cell to power its motor control, sensor polling, and wireless communication functions.

  • I-TEC Smart Window compatibility: The Smart Window runs on a single 18650-format cell at 3.7V nominal. This cell matches that voltage rail and the 1S1P configuration — one cell, no series or parallel arrangement. No BMS handshake is required at the cell level; the device manages charge logic internally.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge under the load profile typical of a smart home actuator — short motor bursts combined with sustained low-draw wireless activity. The cell held stable voltage throughout and showed no unexpected cutoff behaviour.
  • Post-install reconnection window: After fitting this cell, give the Smart Window up to 60 seconds before expecting it to show as online. The device runs a mesh network re-join sequence after any power interruption, and that process completes on its own — no button press needed in most cases.

Smart Window going offline after battery swap

Swapping the cell cuts power completely, which drops the device from the mesh network. When power returns, the Smart Window does not instantly rejoin — it runs an internal boot sequence first, then initiates a network re-join handshake with the hub. This takes up to 60 seconds under normal conditions. If the device is still offline after 90 seconds, check that the hub is powered and within range before assuming a fault with the cell.

Low battery alert showing immediately after fitting a new cell

Cells stored for several months can sit at 3.4V or lower — below the threshold the Smart Window uses to trigger a low battery alert. The device reads cell voltage at boot and flags anything under its set threshold, regardless of whether the cell is new or used. If the alert appears straight after install, charge the cell fully before reinserting it. A fully charged 18650 Li-ion cell should read 4.18–4.20V before fitting.

Frequently Asked Questions

My I-TEC Smart Window shows as offline in the app after I put in the new battery — did something go wrong?

Nothing is wrong with the cell. Every time the Smart Window loses power, it drops off the mesh network and has to re-join when power is restored. That re-join sequence takes up to 60 seconds after boot. Wait 90 seconds from the moment you close the battery compartment, then check the app — the device should appear online without any manual intervention.

The replacement cell seems to be draining much faster than the original battery did — what causes that?

Fast drain on a smart home device like the Smart Window is almost always caused by polling frequency, not the cell itself. If the hub is set to poll the device frequently — checking status every few seconds rather than every few minutes — the wireless radio stays active far longer than it needs to. Check the polling interval or reporting frequency setting in your hub or smart home app and reduce it. A lower polling interval cuts radio-on time significantly and extends the charge cycle.

The I-TEC Smart Window won't reconnect to my hub at all, even after waiting — how do I fix this?

A full power interruption can cause the hub to lose the device's pairing record entirely, which means waiting longer will not help. Open your smart home app, navigate to the device list, and remove the Smart Window entry. Then re-pair it from scratch using the app's add-device flow. Once re-paired, the hub registers the device's network address again and communication resumes normally.
