Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Nest Connect — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (A3GT2001H)

This is a 3.7V 700mAh Li-ion battery for the Nest Connect (models A0078 and H17). The Nest Connect acts as a range-extending mesh node for Nest thermostats, smoke detectors, and compatible smart home devices. When the internal battery depletes, the Connect drops off the network and the devices that rely on it for range lose their cloud link.

  • Nest Connect A0078 and H17 compatibility: Both hardware revisions use the same 3.7V single-cell Li-ion rail with identical connector orientation and BMS handshake protocol — one battery covers both.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a Connect unit. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage threshold before recovery.
  • Network re-join after power interruption: After installing this battery, wait at least 60 seconds before checking connectivity. The Connect runs a mesh network re-join sequence every time power is interrupted — pulling the cell and reinserting it triggers the same sequence.

Why the Nest Connect goes offline after a battery swap

Swapping the battery cuts power to the Connect's radio module, which forces a full mesh re-initialisation on restart. The device broadcasts its network ID and waits for the Nest hub to acknowledge it before resuming normal relay operation. This handshake can take 30 to 90 seconds depending on hub load and signal conditions. If the device stays offline past two minutes, open the Nest app and check whether the Connect appears under Settings — it may need a manual re-pair.

New battery triggering a low-battery alert immediately

Li-ion cells lose charge during storage, and if the cell voltage has dropped below roughly 3.4V before installation, the Connect's firmware will flag it as low before the device finishes booting. The alert is voltage-based, not capacity-based, so the cell just needs a charge cycle to clear it. Plug the Connect into its wall adapter for at least two hours after fitting the new battery. Once the cell reaches its nominal 3.7V, the alert clears automatically in the Nest app.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Nest Connect shows as offline in the app right after I put in the new battery — did I get a bad cell?

The cell is almost certainly fine. Removing the battery triggers a mesh re-join sequence that can take up to 90 seconds to complete. Wait two full minutes before checking the app. If the Connect still shows offline after that, open the Nest app, go to Settings, find the Connect, and run a re-pair from there.

The replacement battery is draining much faster than the original did — what's causing that?

A Connect on a busy network polls more frequently, which pulls more current from the cell. Check how many Nest devices are routing through this Connect — if it's acting as the primary relay for several devices, polling intervals increase and drain accelerates. Reducing the number of devices dependent on this single Connect node, or moving the unit closer to the Nest hub to shorten transmit time, will lower draw. You can also check the Nest app's device activity to see if polling frequency has increased recently.

The Nest Connect won't reconnect to the hub at all — even after waiting several minutes with the new battery in.

This is a lost pairing, not a battery issue. When a device loses its stored pairing credentials — which can happen after a prolonged power outage or a firmware update — a fresh battery alone won't restore the link. Open the Nest app, navigate to Settings > Home Devices, select the Connect, and choose Remove Device. Then add it back using the physical setup button on the Connect unit to force a full re-pair with a fresh credential exchange.
