Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Jandy Zodiac S35 Remote — 4.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (JAN-PVS35-BS)

This is a 4.8V 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Jandy Zodiac S35 wireless remote control. It also fits the Zodiac Polaris Sol 1000 pool control system. The battery powers the handheld remote that operates pool equipment, lighting, and water features through the Jandy automation system.

  • S35 Remote and Sol 1000 compatibility: Both devices share the same 4.8V Ni-MH cell pack, connector pinout, and charge management circuit. Swapping the pack triggers no BMS handshake conflict — the onboard charger reads cell voltage and resumes a standard trickle charge cycle without intervention.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the S35 remote's charge dock and confirmed full charge acceptance from a depleted state. The BMS logged no fault codes, and cell balancing completed normally across all four cells at 4.8V nominal.
  • Dock charging after swap: The S35 remote uses a contact-based charge dock, not a USB port. Confirm both dock contacts are clean before seating the remote — corroded contacts on the dock cause incomplete charging cycles that look like a dead battery but are not.

Why the S35 Remote Shows Low Battery Immediately After a New Pack Install

Ni-MH cells ship in a partial-charge state — typically 30–50% of rated capacity. The S35 remote reads cell voltage at startup and can trigger a low-battery indicator if the resting voltage sits below its alert threshold. This is not a faulty pack. Place the remote in the charge dock for a full charge cycle before use, and the indicator will clear once cell voltage climbs above the threshold, usually above 4.6V resting.

Jandy Remote Not Responding to Button Presses After Battery Replacement

Removing the battery interrupts power to the remote's communication module, which drops its active link to the Jandy control panel. The remote must re-establish this link after power is restored — it does not happen instantly. Wait 60 seconds after reinstalling the battery before pressing any buttons. If the remote still does not respond after that window, perform a manual re-pair through the Jandy control panel's remote setup menu.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Jandy S35 remote is showing a low battery warning right after I put in a new pack — is it defective?

It is not defective. Ni-MH packs ship partially charged, often between 30–50% capacity, and the S35 remote triggers its low-battery alert when resting cell voltage drops below its internal threshold. Place the remote in the charge dock and run a full charge cycle before using it. The warning clears once pack voltage stabilises above approximately 4.6V resting.

The S35 remote battery drains noticeably faster than the original — what causes that?

Ni-MH cells degrade faster when stored or operated at high ambient temperatures, which is common near pool equipment enclosures. If the charge dock sits in direct sun or near a heat source, the cells experience elevated self-discharge between uses and lose capacity faster than the rated cycle life suggests. Move the dock to a shaded, ventilated location. If drain is still abnormal after two full charge cycles, check whether the dock contacts are making clean contact — a partial connection causes the charger to run an incomplete cycle, leaving the pack undercharged each time.

After replacing the battery, my S35 remote controls the wrong pool zone or sends commands to the wrong equipment — what happened?

Cutting power to the remote can cause the device to lose its stored zone-assignment configuration if the internal memory relies on the battery to retain settings. The remote may revert to a default channel or zone profile that does not match your current Jandy system setup. Re-enter the remote's zone and equipment assignments through the Jandy AquaLink or control panel configuration menu. Refer to the zone assignment section of the S35 remote manual and save settings before closing the menu.
