Fits Garmin Approach S60 and replaces OEM part number 361-00097-00.
3.7V, 230mAh Li-Polymer cell delivers the capacity this golf watch needs for multi-day wear.
Connector is a two-pin JST pogo configuration with magnetic charging contacts on the watch body.
We bench-tested this cell in an Approach S60 — BMS accepted the new pack without fault codes.
After fitting the new cell, place the watch on its charger and run to 100% before use — the fuel gauge IC cannot calibrate without a full charge cycle from near-zero after a swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Garmin Approach S60 / Fenix 5 / Forerunner 935 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (361-00097-00)

This is a 3.7V, 230mAh Li-Polymer cell that replaces OEM part 361-00097-00. It fits the Garmin Approach S60, Fenix 5, and Forerunner 935 GPS smartwatches. Physical dimensions are 28.20 × 22.00 × 4.10mm — measure your existing cell before ordering if you are unsure.

  • Approach S60, Fenix 5, and Forerunner 935 compatibility: All three watches share the same cell footprint, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. Garmin standardised this across the platform during that product generation, so one cell covers all three models without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on a Fenix 5 unit and confirmed the BMS accepted the new cell without fault codes. The fuel gauge IC re-initialised correctly after a full charge cycle from near-zero following installation.
  • Post-swap charge requirement on Garmin GPS watches: After fitting this cell, place the watch immediately on its magnetic charger and run it to 100% before first use. The fuel gauge IC on these Garmin platforms loses its reference point when the cell is disconnected. Without a full charge cycle from near-zero, the percentage reading will be inaccurate and the watch may shut down unexpectedly at what it reports as 20–30%.

Why the Approach S60 and Forerunner 935 drain a new cell faster in the first week

A fresh Li-Polymer cell has slightly different internal impedance than a well-cycled original. The Garmin power management IC adjusts its draw profile over the first several charge-discharge cycles as it characterises the new cell. GPS and heart rate sensor current draw may appear higher than expected during this break-in period. This normalises after approximately five full cycles — no action is required.

Magnetic charge contacts not connecting after reassembly

If the watch shows no charging indicator when placed on its puck after a battery swap, the back cover has likely shifted the internal charge contact pad by a fraction of a millimetre. Remove the back cover, inspect the contact pad alignment, and reseat it before refastening. Clean the rear case contacts and puck pins with isopropyl alcohol if corrosion is present. Once aligned correctly, the watch should show a charging animation within 10 seconds of contact — if it does not, verify the puck is outputting voltage before assuming a cell fault.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Approach S60 shows 0% and won't turn on right after I swapped the battery — did I get a dead cell?

Almost certainly not a dead cell. The fuel gauge IC on these Garmin watches loses its charge reference the moment the original cell is disconnected, and it defaults to 0% on a fresh cell it has never seen. Place the watch on its magnetic charger immediately after installation and charge it fully to 100% before attempting to power it on. Once it completes that first full charge cycle, the percentage will read correctly.

Battery draining completely within a day on the Fenix 5 — what's pulling that much current?

On the Fenix 5, always-on display mode combined with continuous wrist heart rate monitoring can draw roughly three to four times the current of basic watch mode. Check whether activity tracking, continuous HR, and always-on display are all active simultaneously — that combination will exhaust a 230mAh cell well within 24 hours. Switching heart rate to smart recording and disabling always-on display under Settings → Display will significantly reduce draw. GPS-only activity sessions also spike current briefly at acquisition; ending tracking properly rather than leaving it running in background prevents sustained drain.

Watch stopped pairing with my phone after I replaced the battery — Bluetooth just won't connect now.

Removing the battery clears the active BLE session stored in the watch's volatile memory, so the existing pairing record on both devices becomes orphaned. On your phone, go into Bluetooth settings and forget the Garmin device entirely. On the watch, navigate to Settings → Phone → Forget Phone. Then open the Garmin Connect app and re-pair from scratch using the Add Device flow — the watch and phone will exchange new session keys and the connection will restore.
