Fits Samsung Gear 2 smartwatch models SM-R380 and SM-R381, replacing OEM part PGF582224H.
3.7V, 250mAh Li-Polymer cell delivers the same energy density as the original for multi-day wear intervals.
Connector is a two-pin pogo dock; seat vertically into the watch chassis until the retention clip locks.
We bench-tested this cell in an SM-R380 — BMS accepted the swap without fault codes on first insertion.
After fitting, charge the watch to 100% before wearing; the fuel gauge IC requires a full cycle to recalibrate after battery removal.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung Gear 2 / SM-R380 / SM-R381 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (PGF582224H)

This is a 3.7V, 250mAh Li-Polymer cell (0.93Wh) built to the same physical and electrical spec as the original Samsung Gear 2 battery. It fits the SM-R380, SM-R381, and Gear 2 Neo — all three share the same battery bay and connector. Use this when the original cell no longer holds a charge or the watch shuts down unexpectedly under load.

  • SM-R380, SM-R381, and Gear 2 Neo compatibility: These three variants use the same 25.62 × 21.02 × 5.82mm cell footprint, identical connector pinout, and the same BMS handshake protocol. Swapping between them is not an issue — the fuel gauge IC reads the same cell chemistry on all three boards.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the SM-R380 platform. The BMS accepted the new cell without fault codes, and the fuel gauge updated state-of-charge correctly after a full charge cycle from near-zero.
  • Fuel gauge reset after cell swap: After fitting this cell, place the watch on its magnetic charger immediately and charge to 100% before use. The fuel gauge IC on Gear 2 hardware cannot calibrate its reference point without a complete charge cycle from near-zero following a cell swap. Skipping this step causes the percentage to read incorrectly for days.

Why the Gear 2 drains faster with always-on display and continuous heart rate active

The Gear 2 heart rate sensor draws continuous current when monitoring is set to automatic — this is a known high-drain configuration for a 250mAh cell. Always-on display adds a steady backlight load on top of that. Together, these two settings can push total draw well above what the cell was sized for in standby-only use. If multi-day life is the goal, set heart rate monitoring to manual and let the display sleep — that alone significantly reduces average current draw on this cell size.

Watch not pairing to phone after battery replacement

Removing the battery during a swap kills the BLE session state stored in volatile memory — the watch loses its active pairing context. The phone-side Gear Manager or Galaxy Wearable app still shows the watch as paired, but the watch itself no longer holds a valid session key. Open the Galaxy Wearable app on the phone, remove the Gear 2 from the paired devices list, then re-pair from scratch using the watch's Bluetooth settings menu. The pairing completes within about 30 seconds once both sides are cleared.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Gear 2 shows 0% and won't turn on right after I put the new battery in — did I get a dead cell?

The cell is almost certainly fine. The fuel gauge IC on the Gear 2 loses its charge reference when the original battery is removed, and it defaults to 0% on a new cell it hasn't calibrated. Place the watch on its magnetic charger before trying to power it on and let it charge to 100% uninterrupted. After that full cycle, the gauge recalibrates and the watch will power on and read correctly.

The Gear 2 charge contacts don't seem to be connecting on the magnetic charger after I reassembled the watch — the charging icon never appears.

This is a physical alignment issue, not a fault with the cell. The magnetic charger puck is sensitive to how the watch sits — if the back cover shifted slightly during reassembly, the contacts miss the pads. Remove the watch from the charger, reseat it so the puck snaps to centre, and check that the back panel is fully flush and clipped down on all four corners. Once the cover is properly seated, the charging icon should appear within five seconds of placing it on the puck.

Battery draining completely in under a day — heart rate monitor and notifications are on but nothing changed from before.

A new Li-Polymer cell on a fresh impedance profile will show higher-than-normal drain for the first several charge cycles while the BMS learns the cell's characteristics. Continuous heart rate monitoring combined with active notifications is a high-draw combination for a 250mAh cell regardless. Run two or three full charge-to-discharge cycles before judging drain behaviour. If the issue persists beyond that, disable automatic heart rate polling in the Gear 2 settings and switch to manual checks — that drops the sensor's average current draw substantially.
