Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Groove onn Rugged Speaker — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (RF-18650-1S1P)
This 3.7V 2600mAh (9.62Wh) Li-ion cell replaces the original RF-18650-1S1P battery in the Groove onn Rugged Speaker, Rugged SM, and Wireless LED Speaker. It fits the AAGRY100076371 model number and restores full wireless audio function when the original cell can no longer hold a charge. Voltage and capacity match the factory spec exactly.
- Rugged Speaker and Rugged SM compatibility: These models share the same single-cell 18650 format with identical connector pinout and BMS handshake requirements. The RF-18650-1S1P designation confirms a 1S1P configuration — one cell in series, one in parallel — so any cell substitution must match both voltage and physical dimensions precisely. This one does: 66.00 × 22.50 × 19.80mm.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a speaker unit with matching BMS. The protection circuit tripped correctly at low-voltage cutoff and accepted charge without fault flags on reconnection. Capacity read within expected tolerance of the rated 2600mAh.
- Fuel gauge reset after installation: After fitting the new cell, run the speaker down past the low-battery warning before recharging — do not top it off immediately. The fuel gauge IC calibrates its empty reference on a real discharge cycle. Skipping this step causes the indicator to misread remaining charge from day one.
Audio distorting before the battery indicator reaches empty
At high volume, the amplifier draws current in short, sharp peaks. As the cell discharges below roughly 3.5V, internal resistance rises and the cell can no longer deliver those peaks without voltage sag. The amplifier clips on the sag, producing audible distortion well before the battery indicator shows empty. A degraded or aged cell hits this sag threshold much earlier in the discharge cycle than a fresh cell at full 2600mAh capacity. Replacing the cell restores the voltage headroom the amplifier needs to run cleanly through the full discharge curve.
Speaker failing to wake from USB charge after sitting unused for weeks
A deeply discharged Li-ion cell — typically below 2.5V — falls outside the voltage window that USB-C power delivery will attempt to charge. The charger presents power, the BMS sees a cell below its wake threshold, and the speaker appears completely dead. To recover it, use a Li-ion charger capable of trickle or recovery mode to bring the cell above 2.8V before attempting USB charge again. If the cell has sat well below 2.5V for an extended period, recovery may not hold — at that point, replacing the cell is the fix, not the charger.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Groove onn Rugged Speaker plays for a while then cuts out even though the battery indicator still shows charge — what's happening?
This is fuel gauge drift caused by shallow cycling. When the speaker is repeatedly topped off before dropping below 50%, the gauge IC loses track of where true empty is, and it reports charge remaining when the cell is actually near cutoff. The fix is to run the speaker down past the low-battery alert before recharging — do this once after fitting the new battery to give the gauge a calibrated empty reference.
Bluetooth keeps dropping when I push the volume up loud, but reconnects when I turn it down — is this a battery issue?
Yes. At high volume, the amplifier and Bluetooth radio draw current simultaneously. On a degraded cell, that combined spike causes voltage sag severe enough to trigger the BMS or cause the radio module to brownout and reconnect. We saw this behaviour on the bench with cells below 70% of rated capacity. A fresh 2600mAh cell at full charge supplies enough sustained current to handle both loads without sag.
The speaker gets noticeably warm on the side during long play sessions — is that normal or a sign something is wrong?
Some warmth is expected. The amplifier generates heat under continuous load, and the discharging Li-ion cell adds to that inside a fabric-wrapped enclosure with limited airflow. What is not normal is heat that is uncomfortable to touch or that causes the speaker to throttle volume automatically. If the housing feels hot rather than warm, check that the speaker is not resting fabric-side down on a surface — flip it to the hard shell side to allow heat to dissipate and keep cell temperature below 45°C during extended sessions.
