Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Skullcandy Kilo XT — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (INR18650)
This is a 3.7V, 3350mAh Li-ion cell for the Skullcandy Kilo XT portable Bluetooth speaker. It fits the Kilo XT, SKDY Kilo, and 2SKSK1845 variants. Replace it when the original no longer holds a charge or the speaker shuts down before the indicator reaches empty.
- Kilo XT, SKDY Kilo, and 2SKSK1845 compatibility: All three share the same INR18650 cell format, 3.7V nominal rail, and BMS communication protocol. The cell seats in the same physical bay and the protection circuit negotiates charge termination identically across the board.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Kilo XT platform. The BMS accepted full charge without triggering overvoltage cutoff, and the protection circuit responded correctly to load spikes during high-volume audio output.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on the Kilo XT: After fitting a new cell, run the speaker down until it powers off, then charge uninterrupted to 100% before use. Skipping this step causes the onboard fuel gauge to misread state of charge from the first cycle, which compounds over time.
Audio distortion before the battery indicator reaches empty
At high volume, the amplifier draws a sharp current spike. If the cell has aged or degraded internal resistance has climbed, terminal voltage sags below the amplifier's clean operating threshold before the fuel gauge shows critical. The speaker's audio stage clips under that sag, producing distortion even though the indicator still shows charge remaining. A fresh cell at 3350mAh restores the headroom the amplifier needs — check that resting voltage sits at or above 3.6V before fitting.
Speaker not waking from USB-C charge after sitting unused for weeks
A deeply discharged INR18650 cell can drop below the minimum voltage a USB-C PD port will accept — typically under 2.5V. At that level, the charger handshake fails and the speaker appears completely dead. Connect the speaker to a 5V USB-A source instead, which bypasses PD negotiation and delivers trickle current directly. Hold for 15–20 minutes until the indicator flickers, then switch to the standard USB-C charger to complete the charge cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Kilo XT shows full charge but the audio drops out after about an hour — is that the battery or the speaker?
That pattern points to fuel gauge drift, not a fault in the speaker's amplifier or Bluetooth radio. When a cell is constantly topped off without being fully discharged, the onboard gauge loses track of true capacity and reports 100% on a cell that's actually much lower. Fit the new cell, run it all the way down until the speaker powers off, then charge to 100% in one uninterrupted session. That single recalibration cycle resets the gauge to the actual cell capacity.
Bluetooth cuts out at high volume but reconnects immediately when I turn the volume down — what's causing that?
The amplifier and the Bluetooth radio both draw current simultaneously, and at high volume the combined spike can drag cell voltage low enough to trigger the BMS under-voltage cutoff. The radio loses power for a fraction of a second, drops the connection, then recovers as soon as current demand falls. This is a cell condition issue, not a pairing or firmware issue — a degraded cell with rising internal resistance sags harder under that combined load. A fresh 3350mAh cell at full charge should keep terminal voltage above 3.4V under that spike.
The Kilo XT gets noticeably warm in the fabric housing during long play sessions — should I be concerned?
Some warmth is normal — the amplifier generates heat during extended output and the fabric housing traps it. What to watch for is heat concentrated at the base where the cell sits rather than distributed across the housing. That localised warmth can indicate elevated internal resistance in a degraded cell, which dissipates more energy as heat under load. If the housing stays warm but not hot to the touch and audio stays clean, the thermal load is within normal range — check that resting cell voltage reads 3.6V or higher after a full charge to confirm the cell is in good condition.
