Fits LG XBOOM Go PL2 and replaces OEM part number EAC63558701.
This 3.7V, 1500mAh Li-Polymer cell restores full audio runtime on the portable speaker.
Connector slides into the battery cavity; no locking tab — seats flat against the housing.
We tested the BMS on first insertion with a standard USB-C charger; cell accepted full charge without fault codes.
Discharge this speaker below 20% once monthly before recharging — constant top-offs cause fuel gauge drift and accelerate capacity fade on the cell.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

LG XBOOM Go PL2 / PJ3 / PJ9 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (EAC63558701)

This 3.7V, 1500mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces part number EAC63558701 in the LG XBOOM Go PL2, PJ3, PJ9, and related compact Bluetooth speakers. It restores the wireless audio function when the original cell no longer holds a charge or fails to power the speaker on. Dimensions are 56.00 × 34.46 × 6.70mm — check yours before ordering if you are unsure of the model variant.

  • PL2 / PJ3 / PJ9 shared platform: These models run the same 3.7V Li-Polymer cell on a common power rail with an identical connector pinout and BMS handshake, which is why a single replacement covers the full range.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the PL2 platform. The onboard BMS accepted charge without fault codes, voltage held steady across the amplifier draw range, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold.
  • Fuel gauge calibration for daily-use speakers: If you use the PL2 plugged in most of the time, let the battery run down below 20% at least once a month before recharging. Constant top-off charging without a full discharge cycle causes the fuel gauge to drift, making the battery indicator unreliable and accelerating capacity fade on Li-Polymer cells.

Audio distortion before the battery indicator reaches empty on the PL2

As a Li-Polymer cell ages, its internal resistance rises. Under amplifier load — especially at higher volume levels — the cell voltage sags below the threshold the amplifier needs to operate cleanly. The speaker clips the audio signal before the low-battery indicator triggers because the protection circuit threshold is set lower than the amplifier's clean-operating floor. Replacing the cell restores the voltage headroom the amp needs. After fitting the new battery, run it through one full charge before extended use to let the BMS establish an accurate capacity baseline.

PL2 won't wake from USB-C after sitting unused for weeks

Li-Polymer cells self-discharge during storage. If the PL2 sits unused long enough, the cell drops below the minimum voltage USB-C PD will accept — typically around 2.5V — and the charger refuses to negotiate a session. The BMS is protecting the cell from an unsafe charge rate at that voltage. To recover a deeply discharged original cell, some chargers offer a trickle-charge mode, but a cell that has reached this state repeatedly will have lost measurable capacity. If the speaker won't respond to USB-C after storage, check the cell voltage with a multimeter at the battery terminals — anything below 2.8V on a 3.7V nominal cell is a strong indicator the pack needs replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions

My LG XBOOM Go PL2 shows a full charge on the indicator but the audio cuts out after about an hour — is the new battery the fix?

That symptom is almost always fuel gauge drift, not a faulty new cell. It happens when a Li-Polymer pack has been shallow-cycled repeatedly — topped off before dropping below 50% — and the BMS loses track of true capacity. After fitting the replacement, run the battery down below 20% before the first full recharge to let the BMS recalibrate. If the indicator still misreads after two full cycles, check that the connector is fully seated, as a loose contact can cause intermittent voltage readings.

Bluetooth keeps dropping on the PL2 when I push the volume past halfway — happened with the old battery and I want to know if it will happen with this one too.

High volume draws a spike of current from both the amplifier and the Bluetooth radio simultaneously. If the cell's internal resistance is elevated — as it is on a degraded original pack — combined amp-plus-radio draw causes voltage to sag enough that the radio resets. A fresh cell with lower internal resistance handles the combined load without the sag. We confirmed on the bench that this replacement holds voltage stable through the amplifier's high-draw range. If drops persist after fitting the new cell, check for a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi source on the same channel as the speaker — RF congestion causes drops that are unrelated to battery health.

The PL2 feels noticeably warm through the fabric housing during long listening sessions — is that a battery problem or something else?

Some warmth is normal — the amplifier generates heat, and the fabric housing traps it. The battery adds a second heat source during discharge because every Li-Polymer cell has internal resistance that converts some energy to heat under load. If the housing is hot enough to be uncomfortable, that points to a degraded cell with higher-than-normal internal resistance working harder to deliver the same current. A replacement cell with lower internal resistance runs cooler under the same load. If the speaker still runs hot after fitting the new battery, reduce volume to below 70% for extended sessions — the amplifier's output stage is the dominant heat source at sustained high volume.
