Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

LG XBOOM Go PL5 / PL5W — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (EAC63558705)
This 3.8V 3700mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original EAC63558705 battery in the LG XBOOM Go PL5 and PL5W portable Bluetooth speakers. It restores wireless audio playback when the original pack no longer holds a charge or fails to accept a charge cycle. Capacity is rated at 14.06Wh — matching the OEM specification.
- PL5 and PL5W compatibility: Both models share the same 3.8V battery rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The cell slots into the same physical cavity with identical solder pad spacing, so no modification is needed between the two variants.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the PL5 platform. The BMS accepted the cell without error flags, completed a full charge cycle, and held voltage across sustained Bluetooth audio output at moderate and high amplifier draw.
- Fuel gauge recalibration after install: After fitting a new cell, run the speaker down to the low-battery warning before recharging — once, on the first cycle. The PL5 fuel gauge calibrates against a known discharge floor. Skip this step and the indicator can read 30% when the cell is nearly flat.
Capacity fade on the PL5 from constant top-off charging
The PL5 is frequently used as a desktop speaker and plugged in whenever it's not actively playing. Li-Polymer cells held at or near full charge long-term experience elevated electrolyte stress, which accelerates capacity fade. The cell never completes a meaningful discharge-recharge cycle, so the BMS fuel gauge also drifts — the indicator shows full while actual capacity is already reduced. To slow this process, discharge the speaker below 20% at least once a month before reconnecting the charger.
Audio distorting before the battery indicator reaches empty
This symptom points to voltage sag under amplifier load, not a dead cell. As the battery depletes, internal resistance rises — at high volume, the amplifier draws a current spike the cell can no longer deliver cleanly, and output voltage drops below the threshold the amp needs. The speaker's protection circuit hasn't triggered yet, so the indicator still shows charge remaining. If this starts happening earlier than expected on a new battery, check that USB-C charging completed fully — an incomplete charge cycle leaves resting voltage short of 4.35V, compressing usable headroom from the first use.

Frequently Asked Questions
My PL5 shows a full charge but the audio cuts out after about an hour of use — is the new battery faulty?
This is fuel gauge drift, not a faulty cell. The BMS calibration reference gets corrupted when the speaker is repeatedly topped off without a full discharge, so the indicator reads full while actual stored charge is already low. Run the speaker from 100% down to the low-battery warning in one session, then charge it fully without interruption. After one complete cycle like this, the gauge reading and real capacity will align.
The Bluetooth drops out specifically at high volume — the speaker was fine at lower levels. What's causing this?
At high volume, the amplifier pulls a short but sharp current spike. If the battery cell has elevated internal resistance — common in a degraded original pack or a new cell that didn't complete its first full charge — voltage sags under that combined amp-plus-radio draw, and the Bluetooth radio loses enough power to drop the connection momentarily. Charge the replacement battery to 100% before testing at high volume, and confirm the USB-C charge indicator shows a completed cycle before you disconnect it.
The PL5 won't wake up at all over USB-C — it's completely unresponsive after being left in a bag for several weeks.
A deeply discharged Li-Polymer cell can fall below the minimum voltage threshold that USB-C Power Delivery will accept, so the charger sees the pack as unrecognisable and refuses to negotiate a charge session. Connect the speaker using the original cable and a wall adapter — not a laptop port — and leave it undisturbed for 20 to 30 minutes before pressing the power button. Wall adapters maintain a trickle conditioning current that laptop USB ports often cut off; once the cell climbs back above approximately 3.0V, the BMS re-initialises and normal charging resumes.
