Fits Marshall Emberton and Emberton II speakers; replaces OEM battery C406A2.
7.4V, 2600mAh delivers full charge cycles without mid-session audio dropout on this compact Bluetooth speaker.
Connector slides straight into speaker chassis with positive contact tab facing upward; locking tab seats flush.
We bench-tested this cell on Marshall's audio load profile — BMS stabilized voltage under sustained 10W playback without sag cutoff.
Discharge the speaker below 20% capacity at least once monthly before recharging to prevent fuel gauge drift and capacity fade on shallow cycling.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Marshall Emberton / Emberton II — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (C406A2)

This 7.4V, 2600mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original C406A2 cell in the Marshall Emberton and Emberton II portable Bluetooth speakers. It fits models 1001908 and 1005696 among others. Capacity is 19.24Wh — matching the original pack specification.

  • Emberton and Emberton II compatibility: Both generations share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — the C406A2 cell works across all listed model numbers without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the Emberton's charge controller and verified the BMS communicated cleanly — protection thresholds engaged at the correct cutoff voltages with no false trips under combined amplifier and Bluetooth radio draw.
  • Monthly discharge cycle for the Emberton: The Emberton is typically left on a desk charging constantly. Let the battery drop below 20% at least once a month before recharging — without a periodic full discharge, the fuel gauge drifts and the speaker will misread remaining charge, cutting out unexpectedly while the indicator still shows bars.

Audio distortion before the battery indicator reaches empty

As a Li-ion cell ages or sits in deep discharge, its internal resistance rises. Under the combined current draw of the Class D amplifier and Bluetooth radio at high volume, the pack voltage sags below the amplifier's stable operating threshold before the fuel gauge registers empty. The amplifier clips — you hear crackling or thinning audio — while the indicator still shows charge. A new cell with lower internal resistance holds voltage above that threshold. If distortion starts early in a listening session even on a new battery, charge the pack fully to 8.4V before use.

Emberton won't wake from USB-C after sitting unused for months

If the Emberton sits uncharged for an extended period, the cell can drop below the USB-C Power Delivery minimum acceptance voltage — typically around 2.5V per cell. At that level, the charger handshake fails and the speaker appears completely dead. Plug in a USB-C cable and leave it connected for at least 20–30 minutes without expecting any indicator light immediately — the BMS requires a trickle precharge phase to bring the cell back above the PD threshold before normal charging begins. If the indicator still shows nothing after 30 minutes, check the cable can deliver at least 5V/1A.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Emberton plays fine for a while then Bluetooth cuts out suddenly at high volume — is this the battery?

Yes, this is a battery voltage sag issue. At high volume, the amplifier and Bluetooth radio draw peak current simultaneously — a degraded or low cell can't hold voltage under that combined load, and the radio drops out before the amplifier does. The fix is a fresh cell with lower internal resistance. Charge it fully to 8.4V before the first session and test at high volume.

My Emberton shows a full charge but playtime has dropped noticeably since I bought it — what's happening?

Constant top-off charging without letting the battery fully discharge causes shallow-cycle degradation on Li-ion cells. The cell loses usable capacity, but the fuel gauge was calibrated on the original cycle range — so it still reads "full" even though actual stored energy is lower. Replace the cell and then run at least one full discharge below 20% before recharging to recalibrate the gauge.

The Emberton speaker feels noticeably warm through the fabric grille during long listening sessions — is that a battery problem?

Some warmth is normal — the Class D amplifier generates heat, and a discharging Li-ion cell adds its own. If the housing feels hot rather than warm, the cell's internal resistance is likely elevated, which means it's dissipating more energy as heat instead of delivering it to the amplifier. A cell with high internal resistance also sags under load, so you may notice the volume or audio quality suffer before the temperature becomes a concern. Replace the battery if warmth is persistent or the speaker dims at normal listening volumes.
