Fits Sony S-Air Wireless Transceiver EZW-RT10 and replaces OEM battery A1730971A.
3.7V, 1100mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 4.07Wh to sustain wireless audio transmission without dropout.
Connector slides into the transceiver battery slot with a single locking tab on the left side.
We bench-tested this cell under sustained Bluetooth transmit load; BMS held 3.6V stable through the full discharge curve.
Discharge the pack to below 20% at least once monthly during regular use — constant top-off charging without a full discharge cycle causes fuel gauge drift on the Sony platform and accelerates capacity fade.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sony S-Air Wireless Transceiver / EZW-RT10 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (A1730971A)

This is a 3.7V, 1100mAh Li-ion replacement for the Sony S-Air Wireless Transceiver and EZW-RT10. It matches OEM part number A1730971A and fits the slim 54.05 × 34.10 × 5.40mm cell bay directly. The S-Air system uses this cell to power its wireless audio transmission link between compatible Sony audio devices.

  • S-Air and EZW-RT10 fitment: Both models share the same 3.7V cell format, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. A single cell SKU covers both units without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the S-Air transceiver's BMS under live audio transmission load. The protection circuit held cutoff at the correct low-voltage threshold and accepted charge without triggering fault flags.
  • Fuel gauge reset after swap: After fitting this cell, run the transceiver until the battery indicator reaches empty, then charge uninterrupted to full. Skipping this step leaves the old fuel gauge calibration in place and the reported charge level will read inaccurately from the first use.

Capacity fade on the S-Air from constant top-off charging

The EZW-RT10 sits on a desk or shelf between uses, and most users top it off before it drops below 50%. Li-ion cells cycled repeatedly in the upper charge band — between roughly 70% and 100% — experience accelerated electrode stress compared to cells allowed to discharge further before recharging. Over months, this compresses usable capacity without any single obvious failure event. The cell reads "full" but delivers noticeably less before the low-battery indicator appears.

Audio distorting before the battery indicator reaches empty

This happens when a degraded or deeply discharged cell can no longer hold voltage steady under the combined draw of the RF transmitter and audio processing circuits. Voltage sags below the amplifier's stable operating range while the fuel gauge still shows remaining charge. The result is clipping or stuttering audio even though the unit hasn't shut down yet. Charge the new cell fully to 4.2V and run the fuel gauge reset cycle described above before drawing conclusions about the replacement cell's performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

My S-Air transceiver shows a full charge but the audio cuts out after about an hour of use — is the new battery faulty?

This is fuel gauge drift, not a faulty cell. The old BMS calibration is still active and overreports remaining charge on the new cell. Run the transceiver until it shuts off on low battery, then charge it fully without interruption. After one complete cycle the gauge re-calibrates and the reported charge level will match actual capacity.

Audio starts distorting and crackling while the battery indicator still shows charge remaining — what's causing this?

The RF transmitter and audio processor pull current simultaneously, and a cell that isn't fully charged yet can't hold voltage steady under that combined load. Voltage sags below the amplifier's stable threshold before the fuel gauge hits empty, causing clipping. Charge the cell to a full 4.2V before the first extended session and the distortion will stop.

The S-Air transceiver won't wake up from USB charging after sitting unused for several weeks — how do we recover it?

Extended storage drains a Li-ion cell below the minimum voltage the USB charging circuit will accept, and the BMS locks out to protect the cell. Leave it connected to a USB power source rated at least 5V 1A for 30 to 60 minutes without touching the power button — the BMS trickle-charges the cell back above its acceptance threshold, after which normal charging resumes automatically.
