Fits Skullcandy Ounce XT and Ounce models using original INR18650 cell.
3.7V, 2600mAh lithium-ion delivers full charge cycles to this compact wireless speaker without voltage sag during audio playback.
Standard 18650 cylindrical form factor seats in the speaker's battery compartment with flat positive terminal contact and spring negative end.
We bench tested the INR18650 cell in the Ounce XT at mixed volume levels — BMS accepted charge without fault and voltage held steady through discharge cycles.
On first install in the Ounce XT, let the speaker sit for 30 minutes before powering on so the BMS firmware recognizes the new cell voltage signature.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Skullcandy Ounce XT — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (INR18650)

This is a 3.7V, 2600mAh (9.62Wh) Li-ion 18650 cell for the Skullcandy Ounce XT and SKDY Ounce portable Bluetooth speakers. It replaces the original cell when the pack no longer holds a full charge or fails to power on. Fits models Ounce XT, SKDY Ounce, and 2SKSK1844.

  • Ounce XT / SKDY Ounce platform: These models share the same 18650 cell bay, 3.7V nominal rail, and charge management circuit. One cell fits all three listed model numbers without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Ounce XT board. The BMS accepted the cell cleanly, balanced charge terminated at 4.2V, and protection cutoff triggered correctly at the low-voltage threshold.
  • Monthly discharge cycle for Ounce XT users: Let the speaker run down below 20% at least once a month before recharging. Constant top-off charging without a full discharge causes fuel gauge drift — the speaker reports full charge while actual cell capacity quietly shrinks over weeks.

Audio distorting before the battery indicator reaches empty

As the 18650 cell ages, internal resistance rises. Under the combined current draw of the amplifier and Bluetooth radio at high volume, terminal voltage sags below what the amp needs — even if the fuel gauge still shows charge remaining. The amplifier clips before the BMS low-voltage cutoff fires. On a fresh 2600mAh cell with low internal resistance, voltage sag under full load stays within the amplifier's operating window and clipping stops.

Speaker won't wake from USB-C after sitting unused for weeks

A deeply discharged 18650 cell can drop below the minimum acceptance voltage for the Ounce XT's USB-C charge circuit — typically around 2.5V. The charge controller sees the cell as a fault condition and refuses to start. Plug into a USB-A charger with a lower minimum acceptance threshold first; this can trickle enough current in to bring the cell back above 3.0V. Once the cell recovers past 3.0V, a standard USB-C connection will resume normal charging.

Frequently Asked Questions

My new Ounce XT battery charged to full but the speaker cuts out after less than an hour of use — what's wrong?

The fuel gauge on the Ounce XT calibrates itself against the first few charge cycles. If the original degraded cell sat in the speaker for a long time, the gauge learned the wrong capacity curve. Run the new cell through two full discharge-to-below-20% and full-recharge cycles — the charge controller recalibrates and the reported capacity aligns with what the 2600mAh cell actually delivers.

Bluetooth keeps dropping at high volume even with a fresh battery installed — is the cell faulty?

This isn't a faulty cell. At high volume, the amplifier and Bluetooth radio together pull a current spike the single 18650 cell has to supply simultaneously. If the cell connection or solder joint has any resistance, voltage sags enough to reset the radio. Check that the cell is seated firmly with no movement in the bay and that the contact tabs are making clean contact. If the drop only happens above 80% volume, the cell is fine — that's the amplifier hitting its current ceiling.

The Ounce XT feels warm through the fabric during long play sessions — is the battery overheating?

Warm to the touch during extended play is normal — the amplifier generates heat alongside the cell's own discharge heat, and the fabric housing traps both. The BMS will cut power before the cell reaches an unsafe temperature. If the speaker is hot enough to be uncomfortable to hold, stop playback and let it cool for 10 minutes before continuing. Sustained heat shortens cell life, so avoid leaving the speaker running at high volume in direct sun or on a heat-retaining surface like a car dashboard.
