Fits Fluke 6XG45, PLS 180G, 6XG46, and eight other survey instruments; replaces OEM part RBP5.
3.7V, 6700mAh lithium-ion cell delivers full capacity for sustained measurement sessions without mid-field power loss.
Single-pin connector with positive contact alignment; seats flush into instrument battery slot with positive terminal forward.
We bench-tested this cell on a 6XG45 probe initialization cycle — BMS accepted full load draw without threshold cutoff.
After installing, run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu before field deployment — the 6XG45 maps battery state during calibration, and skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings on the first measurement session.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Fluke PLS 180G / 6XG45 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (RBP5)

This 3.7V, 6700mAh lithium-ion pack replaces the OEM RBP5 battery across the Fluke PLS 180G, 6XG45, 6XG46, PLS 3G, and compatible survey and test instruments. It matches the original cell configuration and BMS handshake requirements of the platform. Capacity is sourced from cell data — 24.79Wh per pack.

  • PLS and 6XG platform compatibility: These models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. Swapping between them works because the instrument queries the pack over the same data line — voltage rail and handshake logic are identical across this family.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack under simulated sensor-load draw and monitored BMS response at probe initialisation. The protection circuit handled the current spike at power-up without tripping to lockout.
  • Post-install calibration step: After installing this pack, run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu before field deployment. The instrument maps battery state during calibration — skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings during your first measurement session.

BMS lockout after the PLS or 6XG sat unused in a carry case for months

Li-ion cells self-discharge slowly during storage. If the pack voltage drops below roughly 2.5V per cell, the BMS trips into deep-discharge lockout and the instrument will not recognise the pack at all. The charger may also show no activity. To recover, apply the OEM charger for at least 30–45 minutes before attempting to power the instrument on — the BMS needs to see a minimum threshold voltage before it exits lockout and re-enables the output rail.

Readings resetting or drifting mid-session during sustained sensor logging

Sustained sensor load draws more current than the instrument draws at idle, and an aged or partially charged cell shows voltage sag under that load. When voltage briefly drops below the instrument's internal cutoff threshold, the measurement module resets — you lose the active log. This is not a firmware issue. Charge the pack fully before a logging session and confirm resting voltage reads above 3.9V before starting data capture.

Frequently Asked Questions

The instrument powers on fine but shuts off the moment I connect the USB cable to transfer data to my laptop — what's happening?

USB data transfer adds a second draw on top of the instrument's active load — together they can push current demand past what a low or degraded cell can sustain without voltage sag. The BMS reads the sag as an undervoltage event and cuts the output rail. Charge the pack fully before any USB session, and confirm resting voltage is above 3.9V before plugging in.

My Fluke PLS instrument won't charge after sitting in storage for several months — the charger light just stays off or blinks immediately.

Self-discharge over several months can drop cell voltage below the BMS recovery threshold, typically around 2.5V per cell. Below that point the BMS blocks charge input entirely as a protection measure — the charger sees no valid pack and won't engage. Leave the OEM charger connected for 30–45 minutes regardless of indicator behaviour; if voltage recovers above the threshold the BMS will re-enable charge input and the light will change state.

The battery percentage jumps around at startup — shows 80%, then resets to 20% after the first measurement. Is the pack faulty?

The instrument's voltage-threshold fuel gauge is recalibrating to the new cell's discharge curve. A fresh cell has a slightly different open-circuit voltage profile than the worn pack it replaced, so the indicator overshoots until it has seen at least one full discharge-to-charge cycle. Run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu after install — this lets the instrument remap its low-battery threshold to the new pack and stabilises the percentage readout from the next session onward.
