Fits Fluke Microtest 2-Way Injector Tester and PentaScanner units; replaces OEM part 2938-2003-01 and 2938-2003-02.
This 9.6V Ni-MH pack delivers 2000mAh capacity; sufficient for a full field shift on telecom circuit verification without mid-job battery swaps.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a positive-side locking tab; no adapter needed for Microtest platform compatibility.
We bench-tested the pack under sustained probe initialization cycles; BMS held steady without cutoff, voltage remained stable during sensor power-up current spikes.
After installation, run the instrument's internal battery calibration from the menu before fieldwork — the tester maps pack voltage profile during calibration, and skipping this step triggers false low-battery warnings on the first measurement session.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Fluke Microtest 2-Way Injector Tester — 9.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (2938-2003-01)

This is a 9.6V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Fluke Microtest 2-Way Injector Tester, Microtest PentaScanner, and Microtest PentaScanner+. It slots directly into the handheld unit and restores field operation without replacing the instrument. Voltage and capacity match OEM part numbers 2938-2003-01 and 2938-2003-02.

  • Microtest and PentaScanner fit group: These models share the same 9.6V Ni-MH pack, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The instrument polls the pack at startup for voltage confirmation, so a matched cell count and chemistry is required — substituting a different voltage pack triggers a fault state and blocks operation.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through three full charge-discharge passes on the Microtest platform. The BMS responded correctly at each charge termination point, and the instrument accepted the pack without fault codes across all cycles.
  • First-use calibration on the Microtest: After installing the new pack, run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu before taking it into the field. The Microtest maps battery state during calibration — skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings during your first measurement session, even with a fully charged pack.

BMS lockout after the Microtest sat unused in a carry case for months

Ni-MH cells self-discharge continuously, even in storage. After several months in a case, pack voltage can drop below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 8.0V for a 9.6V eight-cell pack. When the instrument attempts to initialise, the BMS detects undervoltage and locks out charge acceptance, so plugging in the charger appears to do nothing. The fix is to apply a low-rate conditioning charge using a Ni-MH compatible charger that supports a recovery or wake mode, bringing cell voltage up to at least 1.0V per cell before the BMS re-enables normal charging.

Instrument display showing erratic battery percentage at reboot after pack swap

The Microtest's battery indicator is calibrated to a voltage-discharge curve from the previous pack's cell history. A new pack resets that curve, and the display reads inconsistent percentages — often jumping from near-full to low warning within a short window. This is not a fault with the new pack; it is the instrument recalibrating its internal threshold map. Run two full charge and discharge cycles through normal use, then perform the instrument's calibration routine, and the percentage indicator will stabilise at accurate levels.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Microtest powers on fine but shuts itself off the moment I start a USB data transfer to a PC — new pack installed yesterday.

USB data transfer adds a combined draw on top of the active measurement circuit, and if the pack voltage sags under that load, the BMS trips the output to protect the cells. This is most common in the first few cycles before the cells have been properly conditioned. Run two full charge-discharge cycles through normal instrument use before attempting USB transfer again, then check that the pack is at full charge — above 11.5V open circuit — before connecting to the PC.

My Microtest readings are drifting and resetting mid-logging session even though the battery indicator looks fine.

A voltage dropout under sustained sensor load can cause the instrument to reset its measurement state without fully powering off — the display stays active, but logged data is interrupted. This happens when cell internal resistance has risen enough that a continuous draw pulls terminal voltage below the instrument's operating floor momentarily. Check the pack voltage under load with a multimeter across the battery terminals during an active session — if it drops below 8.4V while the display still shows mid-charge, the cells are no longer holding voltage under load and the pack needs replacement.

The charger light goes green almost immediately on a new pack — did I receive a defective battery?

A Ni-MH charger that uses delta-V termination can misread a freshly conditioned or cold pack as fully charged within minutes, triggering a premature green light. The pack is not defective — the charger terminated early based on a false voltage peak. Switch to a charger with timed or temperature-monitored termination, or let the pack complete a slow overnight charge at C/10 rate (200mA for a 2000mAh pack) to ensure a full charge before the first calibration cycle.
