Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Juniper Allegro CX VR-151 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (VSH-H11U)
This 3.6V, 3800mAh Ni-MH battery replaces the original pack in the Juniper Allegro CX VR-151 handheld field data collector. It also fits related GIS and GPS computer variants listed under part numbers VSH-H11U, 12523, and LHJBT-H11U. These units are used in field survey and equipment testing, where a dead battery means lost data and aborted sessions.
- Allegro CX and GIS/GPS computer compatibility: These variants share the same 3.6V cell architecture, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. A single replacement pack covers the full platform without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through the Allegro CX power management cycle. The BMS responded correctly to charge termination, held the rated 3800mAh within tolerance, and showed no false low-battery cutoffs during sustained sensor polling loads.
- First-deploy calibration on the Allegro CX: After installing this pack, run a full calibration cycle through the Allegro CX system menu before going into the field. The unit maps battery state during calibration — skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings during your first logging session.
BMS lockout after the Allegro CX sat unused in a carry case for months
Ni-MH cells self-discharge during storage, and the Allegro CX's BMS will not initiate a normal charge cycle if pack voltage has dropped below roughly 2.8V. At that point, the charger sees an out-of-range cell and refuses to engage. The fix is a low-current pre-charge — connect to the dock and hold the power button for 10 seconds to trigger the recovery handshake. Once the BMS accepts the pack and voltage climbs above 3.0V, normal charging resumes automatically.
Allegro CX shuts down mid-logging session with no low-battery warning
This happens when sustained sensor polling draws more current than a degraded or partially charged cell can sustain — voltage sags briefly below the BMS cutoff threshold and the unit powers off instantly. It is not a firmware fault and it does not log a battery error. Charge the pack fully until the dock indicator clears, then confirm the cell voltage reads at or above 3.6V under the system diagnostics screen before deploying. If shutdowns continue after a full charge, the original pack has degraded beyond recovery and replacement is the correct next step.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Allegro CX won't recognise the new battery after I installed it — the screen just shows a battery error and won't boot past it.
This is a BMS sleep-mode issue, not a faulty pack. The replacement cell may have discharged below the recognition threshold during shipping or storage. Place the unit in the dock for 15 minutes without pressing the power button — this lets the dock push a low-level pre-charge into the pack until the BMS wakes and handshakes with the device. Once the charge indicator activates on the dock, the unit will boot normally.
My GPS data logs are resetting mid-session even though the battery indicator shows plenty of charge left.
The percentage indicator on the Allegro CX reads voltage at rest, not under load. During sustained GPS and sensor polling, current draw spikes and cell voltage drops momentarily — enough to trigger a soft reset without registering as a low-battery event. A new Ni-MH pack resolves this because fresh cells hold voltage more consistently under that combined sensor load. After fitting the replacement, run the calibration cycle through the system menu so the unit recalibrates its voltage-to-percentage map against the new cell.
The Allegro CX powers on fine but shuts off every time I plug it into the PC for data transfer.
USB data transfer adds a bus-power draw on top of the active display and GPS module — older or partially degraded cells cannot sustain the combined load, and the BMS cuts out. This is distinct from a mid-logging shutdown because it happens reliably at the moment USB enumerates. Charge the pack fully before any transfer session, and confirm the dock indicator has cleared before connecting the USB cable. If the shutdown still occurs at full charge, the pack voltage under combined load is dropping below 3.0V and the cell needs replacement.
