Fits Kolida GPS GNSS K9, K9E, K9T, K9TX surveying receivers replacing OEM part number BTKD-L7402W.
7.4V and 2200mAh capacity delivers sustained power through extended field survey sessions without voltage sag under continuous positioning operations.
Connector slides vertically into the battery slot with a single locking tab on the left side — orient the terminals upward to seat correctly.
We bench-tested this pack in a K9 GNSS unit; the BMS accepted a full charge cycle and held steady voltage under simulated positioning load without dropout.
On first deployment, run a full position fix cycle through the K9 menu before logging data — the instrument calibrates battery voltage reference during this sequence, preventing premature low-battery cutoff mid-survey.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Kolida GPS GNSS K9 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BTKD-L7402W)

This 7.4V, 2200mAh Li-ion battery replaces the BTKD-L7402W pack in the Kolida GPS GNSS K9, K9E, K9T, and K9TX surveying receivers. It fits the same battery bay and connector as the original, with no modification needed. Capacity is 2200mAh (16.28Wh) — matched to the product data, not estimated from field reports.

  • K9 series compatibility: The K9, K9E, K9T, and K9TX share the same battery housing, voltage rail, and BMS handshake protocol. One pack covers the full platform — the receiver's firmware reads cell state the same way across all four variants.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full charge and discharge cycles on the K9 platform. The BMS communicated charge state cleanly and held voltage within expected tolerance under the receiver's GPS and GLONASS simultaneous tracking load.
  • Pre-deployment calibration cycle: After installing this pack, run a full system calibration through the K9 receiver's instrument menu before heading into the field. The receiver maps battery state during calibration — skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings during your first measurement session, even with a fully charged pack.

BMS cutoff when the K9 initialises its GNSS tracking modules

When the K9 powers on, it initialises GPS and GLONASS tracking simultaneously. That module startup draws a short current spike — higher than the receiver's steady tracking load. A new or cold pack with a marginal BMS can interpret this spike as a fault and cut power before the receiver finishes booting. This is a BMS threshold event, not a faulty receiver. Charging the pack to full before the first power-on reduces the chance of this trip occurring.

Pack will not charge after the receiver sat unused for months

Li-ion cells left in storage self-discharge over time. If the K9's battery drops below approximately 2.5V per cell, the BMS enters a protective sleep state and blocks normal charging. The charger shows no activity or immediately stops. To recover the pack, use a charger that supports a low-current pre-charge mode — sometimes called trickle or recovery mode — to bring the cell voltage back above 3.0V before switching to standard charge rate. If the pack does not respond after 30 minutes of recovery charge, the cells have passed the point of safe recovery and the pack needs replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Kolida K9 shuts off mid-survey even though the battery showed a good charge level — what's happening?

This is a voltage dropout under sustained sensor load, not a capacity problem. When the K9 is simultaneously tracking multiple constellations and logging data, the combined current draw can pull cell voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold momentarily — even when the indicator reads partial charge. The BMS interprets the sag as a depleted cell and shuts the receiver down to protect the cells. A replacement pack with fresh cells holds voltage more steadily under that load — confirm the new pack reads at least 8.2V off the charger before heading into the field.

The K9 receiver powers on but cuts out the moment I start a USB data transfer to the laptop — is that a battery fault?

Yes — USB data transfer adds a secondary current draw on top of the receiver's active tracking load. An aged or weakened pack cannot sustain both simultaneously, and the BMS trips the output. This is one of the first failure signs of a degraded pack — the receiver runs fine in isolation but fails under combined draw. Swap the battery and confirm stable voltage above 7.2V under load before attempting another transfer session.

The K9 shows a different battery percentage every time I reboot it after fitting this new pack — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong with the pack. The K9's battery indicator recalibrates its voltage-to-percentage mapping to the new cells over the first few charge and discharge cycles. Until that mapping settles, percentage readings at reboot will jump around. Run two or three full charge and discharge cycles through normal field use, and the indicator will stabilise to an accurate reading.
