Replaces PCE part number PT603450-2P for the RCM 11 moisture meter handheld unit.
7.4V 1200mAh Li-ion cell delivers 8.88Wh; sufficient for full-day moisture surveys without mid-session depletion.
Connector seats into the RCM 11 battery slot with positive terminal forward; locking tab engages on insertion.
We ran load testing under sustained probe operation; BMS held stable voltage delivery without cutoff or thermal drift.
After installation, run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu before field deployment — the RCM 11 maps battery state during calibration, and skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings on the first measurement session.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

PCE RCM 11 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (PT603450-2P)

This 7.4V 1200mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original pack in the PCE RCM 11 moisture meter. The RCM 11 is a handheld instrument used for measuring moisture content in building materials, timber, and substrates on construction sites. OEM part number PT603450-2P matches the original cell format and connector to fit the battery bay without modification.

  • RCM 11 platform fit: The RCM 11 draws a short current spike each time the probe circuit initialises a measurement. The PT603450-2P cell pair is rated for that inrush without triggering BMS cutoff — a common failure point with lower-rated third-party cells used in this form factor.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated probe-activation sequences on equivalent 7.4V survey instrument platforms. The BMS held steady through initialisation spikes and sustained sensor load without dropping into protection mode.
  • Post-install calibration step: After fitting this battery, run a full calibration cycle through the RCM 11's instrument menu before field deployment. The device maps battery state during calibration — skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings to appear during your first measurement session even with a fully charged pack.

BMS lockout after the RCM 11 sat unused in a carry case for months

Li-ion cells self-discharge at roughly 2–3% per month under storage conditions. If the RCM 11 was shelved for an extended period, the pack may have dropped below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell. At that point, the BMS enters a protective lockout state and the charger sees no current draw, which looks like a dead or missing pack. Connect the battery to a charger that supports a low-voltage recovery or "wake" mode and leave it for 30–60 minutes before checking for charge acceptance. Once cell voltage climbs above the 3.0V per cell recovery threshold, the BMS resets and normal charging resumes.

RCM 11 display showing an inconsistent battery percentage after fitting a new pack

The RCM 11 uses a voltage-threshold system to estimate battery state — it does not track coulombs. When a new cell is installed, the instrument's internal reference points are calibrated to the previous pack's discharge curve. Until the new pack completes at least one full charge-discharge cycle inside the device, the percentage readout will jump or reset unexpectedly at power-on. Run the instrument through one complete charge to 8.4V, then discharge it through normal use until the low-battery indicator activates. After that single cycle, the display percentage stabilises against the new cell's actual voltage curve.

Frequently Asked Questions

The RCM 11 shuts off the moment I press the probe against a surface — battery shows charged before I start

This is a BMS trip caused by the current spike when the probe circuit powers up and drives current through the sensor pins. The spike is brief but sharp enough to push a marginal or cold cell below the BMS cutoff threshold. Warm the instrument to room temperature if you're working in cold conditions, then re-seat the battery firmly to ensure a clean contact. If the shutdown repeats, charge the pack fully to 8.4V and retest — a cell sitting at 90% charge has less headroom to absorb the inrush than one at 100%.

The RCM 11 powers on but freezes or resets mid-session when I'm logging readings to the instrument memory

Sustained logging draws on both the display and the memory-write circuit simultaneously, which increases total current draw above what single-point measurements require. If cell voltage sags under that combined load, the instrument resets to protect itself. Check that the battery is fully charged before starting a logging session, and avoid running the backlight at maximum brightness during extended data capture — reducing display load lowers the sustained current draw and prevents the voltage from dropping far enough to trigger a reset.

The RCM 11 won't accept a charge after the pack sat unused for several months — charger light stays green immediately

A charger light that goes green instantly means it detected no current draw from the pack, which points to BMS lockout from deep self-discharge. The cells have likely dropped below 2.5V each, which is the threshold at which the BMS disconnects the charge path to prevent damage. Use a charger with a recovery or conditioning mode, connect the pack, and wait at least 45 minutes before checking again — the recovery mode trickle-charges at a low rate that bypasses the BMS cutoff. Once cell voltage climbs back above 3.0V per cell, the BMS reconnects and the charger begins a normal charge cycle.
