Fits Peaktech 3440 and P3340 multimeters, directly replaces OEM PT603450-2S battery pack.
7.4V 1200mAh Li-ion delivers 8.88Wh — enough capacity for full measurement sessions without mid-task shutdowns.
Connector seats straight into the battery compartment with a single locking tab; orientation is keyed to prevent reverse insertion.
We ran this cell through full discharge cycles on the 3440's resistance and voltage measurement modes; BMS held voltage stable under sustained probe load.
After installing, run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu before field deployment — the multimeter maps battery state during calibration, and skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings on your first measurement session.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Peaktech 3440 / P3340 Multimeter — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (PT603450-2S)

This is a 7.4V 1200mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Peaktech 3440 and P3340 digital multimeters. It slots into the battery compartment using the same connector and cell format as the original PT603450-2S pack. If your meter is shutting down unexpectedly or the original cell no longer holds a charge, this is the direct swap.

  • 3440 and P3340 shared platform: Both meters run the same 7.4V two-cell Li-ion rail with an identical connector pinout and BMS handshake protocol — that is why a single pack covers both models without any wiring modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the 3440's power-on sequence and active measurement load. The BMS held voltage within spec across probe initialisation and sustained continuity testing without tripping into protection mode.
  • Post-install calibration tip: After fitting this pack, run a full calibration cycle through the meter's calibration menu before field use. The 3440 maps battery state during calibration, and skipping this step causes the low-battery indicator to trigger prematurely on the first measurement session.

BMS lockout after the 3440 sat unused in a carry case for months

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the pack voltage drops below roughly 2.5V per cell — around 5.0V combined — the BMS enters a protective sleep state and blocks charge input entirely. The meter will not power on and the charger shows no activity. To recover, apply a low-current trickle charge at around 5.2–5.5V using a bench supply for 10–15 minutes before reconnecting to the standard charger. Once the BMS sees voltage above the recovery threshold, normal charging resumes.

Readings resetting or dropping out mid-session during sustained logging

When the 3440 logs continuously across multiple input channels, the combined draw from the display, measurement circuitry, and data buffer can cause a brief voltage sag. If the pack is already partially depleted, this sag can dip below the BMS cutoff threshold and reset the active session. The meter restarts and any unsaved log data is lost. Keeping the pack above 50% charge before starting a long logging session prevents this — check the indicator reads at least two bars before you begin.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Peaktech 3440 shuts off the moment I touch the probes to a live circuit — why?

The probe contact draws a sharp current spike as the measurement circuit initialises, and an ageing or deeply discharged pack can't sustain it without voltage collapsing below the BMS cutoff. The BMS interprets this as a fault and cuts power instantly. A fresh, fully charged PT603450-2S pack handles the initialisation spike without tripping. Charge the replacement to 8.4V before first use and run the calibration cycle before going to a live circuit.

The 3440 won't take a charge after sitting in storage — the charger just shows nothing.

Self-discharge has pulled the pack below the BMS recovery threshold, which is typically around 5.0V for a 7.4V two-cell pack. The BMS is in sleep mode and actively blocking charge input. Connect a bench supply set to 5.2V at 100mA and hold it there for 10–15 minutes — this nudges the cells above the recovery threshold without stressing them. Once the BMS wakes, disconnect the bench supply and reconnect the standard charger; it should begin a normal charge cycle immediately.

The battery percentage on my 3440 jumps around or shows full right after a restart — what causes that?

The 3440 reads battery state from a voltage-threshold lookup, not a continuous fuel gauge. After installing a new pack, the meter's stored voltage map still references the old cell's discharge curve, so the displayed percentage is inaccurate until the meter recalibrates. Run one full discharge-to-low-warning cycle followed by a complete charge, then perform the calibration routine in the meter menu. After that single conditioning cycle, the percentage readout will track the new pack's actual state correctly.
