Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Teledyne PMAT 2000 — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This 11.1V 5200mAh (57.72Wh) lithium-ion battery is a direct replacement for the Teledyne PMAT 2000 data acquisition instrument. The PMAT 2000 is a portable geotechnical and environmental field survey device, and this pack matches its voltage rail and physical format. Dimensions are 214.60 × 52.52 × 19.50mm.
- PMAT 2000 field instrument fit: The PMAT 2000 draws variable current as it powers sensors and logs data simultaneously. This pack's cell configuration holds the 11.1V nominal rail steady under that combined load without the BMS triggering a protective cutoff during active measurement cycles.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack under a simulated probe-initialisation load — the short current spike at sensor power-up that trips weaker packs. The BMS held the output rail and recovered cleanly without a lockout event.
- Pre-deployment calibration cycle: After fitting this battery, run a full calibration sequence through the PMAT 2000's instrument menu before your first field session. The instrument maps battery state during calibration, and skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings mid-survey even when the pack carries a full charge.
BMS lockout after the PMAT 2000 sat unused in a carry case for months
Li-ion cells self-discharge slowly in storage. If the PMAT 2000 sat packed away for several months, the battery voltage can drop below the BMS's minimum recovery threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell, or roughly 7.5V for an 11.1V three-cell pack. At that point the BMS enters a deep-discharge lockout and the instrument won't power on at all. Connect the pack to its charger and leave it for at least 90 minutes even if no charge indicator appears immediately — most chargers apply a trickle recovery current before switching to full charge. If voltage climbs above the threshold, the BMS will unlock and normal charging resumes.
Readings drifting or logging session resetting mid-survey
This failure differs from a clean shutdown — the PMAT 2000 stays on but logged data becomes unreliable or the session resets without warning. The cause is a momentary voltage dropout under sustained sensor load, where the battery voltage sags below the instrument's internal operating threshold for long enough to reset the acquisition module. A pack with degraded cells shows a healthy resting voltage but cannot hold it under continuous draw. Check the pack's resting voltage after a full charge — it should read at or above 12.4V. If it reads below 12.0V at rest, the cells have lost capacity and the pack needs replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions
The PMAT 2000 shuts down the moment the probe initialises — why does a new battery fix this?
Probe initialisation pulls a short but steep current spike as sensors power up. An aged or low-capacity pack lets voltage sag sharply during that spike, and the instrument's protection circuit reads it as a fault and cuts power. A fresh 5200mAh pack sustains the rail through that spike without tripping. If shutdown still occurs with the new battery fitted, check the probe connector pins for corrosion — a resistive connection amplifies the voltage drop at the same current draw.
The PMAT 2000 powers on normally but shuts off when I transfer data to a PC via USB — is the battery causing this?
Yes — USB data transfer adds a second load on top of whatever sensors remain active. Combined draw can exceed what a degraded pack will deliver while holding voltage above the instrument's cutoff threshold. A fully charged 5200mAh pack at 12.4V or above handles the combined draw cleanly. Close any active logging session before initiating USB transfer, and confirm the pack reads at least 12.0V resting before you connect the cable.
My PMAT 2000 won't recognise the new pack after months of storage — the screen stays blank even on charge.
The BMS on a stored pack can drop into sleep mode when cell voltage falls below approximately 7.5V total. The instrument can't wake it and the charger may show no activity for the first hour. Connect the pack to the charger and leave it uninterrupted for 90 minutes — the charger applies a low-current recovery pulse before full charge begins. Once cell voltage climbs back above the BMS recovery threshold (around 9.0V for this pack), the instrument will detect it normally on next power-on.
