Fits Topcon FC100 and FC2000 field controllers — replaces OEM part numbers BT-30, BT-62Q, BT-65Q, BT-66Q.
Supplies 7.4V at 2200mAh capacity — enough power for a full survey day in remote locations without access to charging infrastructure.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a positive-end-forward orientation and locks flush against the device body.
We bench-tested this pack on an FC100 unit; the BMS accepted the first charge without cutoff, and voltage held steady under sustained GPS and data-logging load.
On first deployment after installation, run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu before field work — the FC100 maps battery state during calibration, and skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings during your first measurement session.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Topcon FC100 / FC2000 Field Controller — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BT-30)

This 7.4V, 2200mAh Li-ion pack replaces the OEM BT-30 battery in the Topcon FC100 and FC2000 Field Controllers. These are handheld data collection units used in surveying, construction layout, and GPS field work. It also cross-references OEM part numbers BT-62Q, BT-65Q, and BT-66Q for extended model coverage.

  • FC100 and FC2000 platform fit: Both controllers run the same 7.4V battery rail and share a common connector footprint and BMS handshake protocol. One pack covers both units without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the FC100's power-on sequence and GPS initialisation load. The BMS held stable under the combined draw of the display backlight, GPS module, and data logging — no false cutoff events recorded.
  • Pre-deployment calibration cycle: After installing this pack, run a full calibration cycle through the FC100's instrument menu before heading into the field. The controller maps battery state during that sequence, and skipping it causes premature low-battery warnings to appear before actual capacity is depleted.

FC100 BMS lockout after the pack sat unused in a carry case for months

Li-ion cells left dormant below roughly 2.5V per cell will cause the BMS to enter a protective sleep state. In this condition the FC100 shows no charge indicator and may not respond to the charger at all. The fix is to apply a low-current trickle charge — most OEM Topcon chargers will attempt a recovery cycle automatically if left connected for 15 to 30 minutes. Once cell voltage recovers above the BMS wake threshold (approximately 6.0V across the pack), normal charging resumes.

GPS readings reset or logging session drops mid-session with no low-battery warning

This happens when sustained GPS and sensor load pulls the pack voltage below the FC100's brownout threshold momentarily — not a full discharge, just a voltage sag under load. The controller interprets the sag as a fault and resets the active session. A new cell pack with low internal resistance holds voltage more consistently under that combined draw. After fitting the replacement, confirm resting voltage reads at or above 8.2V before starting a logging session.

Frequently Asked Questions

The FC100 powers on fine but shuts off as soon as I connect it to the PC for data transfer — what's causing that?

USB data transfer adds a combined draw on top of the active display and GPS module, and an aged or partially degraded pack can't sustain all three loads simultaneously. The voltage sags just enough to trigger the controller's low-voltage cutoff, which kills the session cleanly rather than corrupt data. This isn't a software fault — it's the BMS protecting the cells. Fit a fresh pack and confirm resting voltage is at or above 8.2V before transferring data via USB.

The FC100 shows a full battery icon at startup but drops to one bar after a few minutes of use — is the percentage display broken?

The percentage indicator on the FC100 calibrates its voltage-threshold mapping to the cells currently in use. When a new pack is installed, the controller hasn't yet built an accurate discharge curve for it, so early readings can jump or drop sharply. Run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu after fitting the replacement — the controller maps cell behaviour during that process and the indicator stabilises within the first full charge-discharge cycle.

My replacement pack arrived but the FC100 charger shows no activity and the device won't power on — is the battery dead?

If the pack sat in a warehouse for an extended period, the cells may have self-discharged below the BMS wake voltage — around 6.0V across the pack. The BMS locks out to prevent damage, which looks identical to a dead or faulty battery. Leave the pack connected to the Topcon charger for 20 to 30 minutes without interruption; the charger will attempt a trickle recovery before entering full charge mode. If the charge indicator activates within that window, the pack has recovered and will charge normally from that point.
