Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Nabi Dreamtab 8" (DMTAB-NV08B) — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (PR-3667153)

This 3.7V, 4700mAh lithium-polymer battery replaces the original PR-3667153 cell in the Nabi Dreamtab 8" tablet (model DMTAB-NV08B). It powers the display, processor, and application layer. Replace it when the existing cell no longer holds adequate charge or fails to boot the device entirely.

  • Dreamtab 8" and DMTAB-NV08B compatibility: Both model identifiers refer to the same hardware generation. They share the same connector pinout, cell dimensions (155 × 66 × 3.70mm), and charge IC handshake — so one cell covers both.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Dreamtab 8" platform. The BMS accepted the new cell without error flags, and the charge IC completed a full cycle without thermal cutoff or voltage rejection.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration after swap: Once installed, run the tablet down to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% before use. This gives the fuel gauge IC a reference point against the new cell's actual capacity curve and clears the inaccurate percentage display that almost always appears after a swap.

Why the Dreamtab 8" shuts down at 15–25% remaining

The Dreamtab 8" runs its display and WiFi radio simultaneously under normal use, creating combined current draw spikes. An aged or freshly swapped cell can sag in voltage under that load before the fuel gauge reads zero. The tablet's protection circuit interprets the voltage sag as a critically low cell and triggers shutdown. One full discharge-to-cutoff cycle recalibrates the gauge and typically moves that premature shutoff threshold back to below 5%.

Percentage jumping or freezing after battery replacement

After a cell swap, the Dreamtab's fuel gauge IC still holds calibration data from the old cell. This causes the reported percentage to freeze, jump, or drop in large non-linear steps. It is a software-side mismatch, not a fault with the new battery. Run one complete cycle — full discharge to automatic shutoff, then a full uninterrupted charge to 100% — and the gauge IC re-anchors to the new cell's voltage curve.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Dreamtab 8" is showing the wrong battery percentage after I swapped the battery — is the new cell defective?

The cell is almost certainly fine. The fuel gauge IC on the Dreamtab stores calibration data tied to the old cell's voltage curve, so it misreads the new one until it sees a full cycle. Let the tablet discharge completely to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without using it mid-charge. After that single cycle the reported percentage should track accurately.

My Dreamtab 8" keeps shutting down at around 20% after the replacement battery — why won't it run down properly?

The combined draw of the display and WiFi radio causes brief voltage sag on a new cell before the fuel gauge reads empty. The protection circuit sees that sag as a critically low state and shuts the tablet down early. This is a calibration issue, not a cell fault. Run one full discharge to automatic shutoff followed by a full charge to 100% and the cutoff point should drop back below 5%.

Fast charging isn't working since I replaced the Nabi Dreamtab battery — the charger that worked before now charges slowly.

Fast charge protocols on the Dreamtab require the charge IC to complete at least one accepted full cycle with the new cell before it negotiates higher charge rates. Plug in the original charger and let it run a complete charge to 100% without interruption. If the slow rate persists after that cycle, confirm the charger output is rated at 5V/2A or higher — the new cell's charge IC will throttle to standard 5V/1A if the source voltage is marginal.
