Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Nextbook Ares 8A / NX16A8116KPK — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (AE25102105P)
This is a 3.7V, 3900mAh lithium-polymer battery for the Nextbook Ares 8A and NX16A8116KPK Android tablets. It replaces OEM part AE25102105P directly. If the original cell has degraded or the tablet no longer powers on from charge, this restores normal operation.
- Ares 8A and NX16A8116KPK compatibility: Both models share the same mainboard power rail, connector pitch, and BMS handshake protocol. The AE25102105P cell seats in the same 102.60 × 98.00 × 3.00mm cavity on both boards without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a Nextbook Ares 8A unit. The BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, charge IC engaged normally, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at low-voltage cutoff.
- Fuel gauge recalibration after swap: After fitting this battery, run the tablet down to automatic shutoff, then charge it uninterrupted to 100%. This forces the fuel gauge IC to recalibrate against the new cell's actual capacity curve and clears the inaccurate percentage readings common after any cell swap.
Tablet shutting down at 15–25% after battery replacement
The Ares 8A draws combined load from the display backlight and Wi-Fi simultaneously. On a new or recently swapped cell, the fuel gauge IC hasn't mapped the voltage curve of the new cell yet. At around 3.6–3.65V, the cell's actual capacity drops faster than the gauge expects, causing the protection circuit to cut power before the displayed percentage reaches zero. One complete discharge-to-shutoff cycle followed by a full uninterrupted charge resets this. After that cycle, shutdowns at 15–25% stop for most users.
Fast charging not available after fitting the replacement cell
The Ares 8A charge IC negotiates charge rate based on cell acceptance on the first few cycles. A brand-new cell sometimes causes the controller to default to a conservative charge profile until it completes one accepted charge cycle. Use the original Nextbook charger or a USB adapter that outputs 5V/2A, and let the first charge run uninterrupted from flat to 100%. After that cycle completes, the charge IC re-evaluates the rate and normal charging speed resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Nextbook Ares 8A says 60% battery but shuts off suddenly — is the new cell faulty?
The cell isn't faulty — the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old, degraded cell's voltage curve. When the new cell's voltage drops through the 3.6V range under display and Wi-Fi load, the controller reads it as a cliff and cuts power before the percentage display catches up. Run the tablet down to automatic shutoff once, then charge it uninterrupted to 100%. After that single calibration cycle, the shutdowns stop.
The battery percentage on my Ares 8A jumps around and reads wrong after I swapped the battery — what's happening?
The fuel gauge IC on the Ares 8A mainboard stores a capacity model from the original cell. When a new cell goes in, the IC's internal model no longer matches the actual cell, so it reports inaccurate percentages. This isn't a defective battery. Discharge the tablet fully until it shuts itself off, then charge it continuously to 100% without interruption. That single full cycle forces the IC to rebuild its capacity model against the new cell.
My Nextbook Ares 8A feels warm near the battery area while charging after the replacement — should I stop charging?
Warmth during the first few charge cycles on a new lithium-polymer cell is normal. The charge IC runs a formation protocol on fresh cells that generates slightly more heat than steady-state charging on a broken-in cell. As long as the tablet isn't hot to the touch and the warmth fades after charging ends, nothing is wrong. If the case becomes too hot to hold comfortably, disconnect the charger and let it cool to room temperature before resuming.
