Fits Galaxy Tab A 9.7 models SM-T550, SM-P550, SM-P555 and replaces OEM part EB-BT550ABA.
This 3.8V, 6000mAh Li-Polymer cell delivers the same capacity as the original to sustain display and processor loads.
Connector slides onto the existing flex cable with a single locking tab that seats flush against the tablet frame.
We bench tested this pack on a T550 board — the fuel gauge IC accepted the new cell without fault codes on first insertion.
After installation, run one full discharge to automatic shutoff then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the fuel gauge calibration and resolves inaccurate percentage display that appears after a swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7 — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (EB-BT550ABA)

This is a 3.8V, 6000mAh Li-Polymer battery for the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7 tablet. It fits the SM-T550, SM-P550, and SM-P555, along with six additional variants in the same lineup. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds a charge or the tablet stops powering on away from the wall.

  • SM-T550 and SM-P550 / SM-P555 compatibility: These models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The EB-BT550ABA and EB-BT550ABE part numbers are interchangeable across the full Tab A 9.7 range — Samsung used both OEM references for the same cell.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on an SM-T550 and monitored the charge IC through a full cycle. The BMS accepted the charge handshake without fault flags, and voltage stabilised at 3.8V nominal with no thermal events under display-plus-WiFi load.
  • Post-install calibration on the Tab A 9.7: After fitting this battery, run one full discharge to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. The Tab A 9.7's fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the old cell — skipping this step causes the percentage readout to jump or stall at incorrect values.

Tablet shutting down at 15–25% remaining after battery swap

The Tab A 9.7 draws hardest when the display brightness is high and WiFi is actively syncing. At around 15–25% state of charge, a new uncalibrated cell can hit a voltage cliff that the fuel gauge misreads as a safe level. The charge controller triggers an emergency shutoff before the displayed percentage reaches zero. One full discharge-to-shutoff cycle followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% resets the fuel gauge against the new cell's actual voltage curve.

Fast charging unavailable on the Tab A 9.7 after battery replacement

Adaptive fast charge on the Tab A 9.7 requires the charge IC to complete one accepted full charge cycle before it enables higher-rate negotiation with the charger. A freshly installed cell starts this process from scratch — the protocol won't engage on the first charge. Use the original Samsung charger, not a third-party adapter, and allow the first cycle to complete fully. After that cycle, fast charge availability returns to normal.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Galaxy Tab A 9.7 shows a completely different battery percentage than what I'd expect — it jumped from 60% to 20% while just browsing. What's going on?

The fuel gauge IC in the SM-T550 and SM-P550 stores calibration data tied to the original cell's voltage profile. When a new battery goes in, that stored data no longer matches the actual cell, so the percentage reading drifts or drops suddenly under load. Run the tablet down to automatic shutoff, then charge it uninterrupted to 100% without unplugging. That single cycle re-anchors the fuel gauge to the new cell's real voltage curve.

The Tab A 9.7 feels warm around the back near the camera during the first few charges after the battery swap — is something wrong?

Warmth in that area during charging is the charge IC on the new cell going through its initial conditioning cycles. A fresh Li-Polymer cell draws a slightly higher acceptance current in the first one to three charge cycles before the IC settles into normal trickle behaviour. As long as the tablet isn't hot to the touch and there's no swelling, this is expected. If the back stays warm past the third full charge, check that the connector is fully seated and no adhesive is trapping heat against the cell.

The battery percentage on my SM-P555 drops noticeably faster from 100% down to about 70% than it does for the rest of the discharge — is the new cell faulty?

This is fuel gauge drift, not a faulty cell. The Tab A 9.7's charge controller estimates state of charge using a reference curve from the old battery, so the top portion of the new cell reads as depleted faster than it actually is. The lower portion then appears to last longer, which is the same calibration mismatch in reverse. Discharge the tablet fully to automatic shutoff and then charge it to 100% without interruption — after one complete cycle, the gauge recalibrates and the drop rate across the full range evens out.
