Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Hikvision H13 / H16 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (E097-13-1S1P26650)
This is a 3.7V, 5000mAh (18.5Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for the Hikvision H13, H13 Pro, H16, and H16 Pro handheld thermal imaging cameras. It matches the OEM part number E097-13-1S1P26650 and slots into the same battery compartment. If your original cell is no longer holding charge during field inspections, this is a direct swap.
- H13 and H16 platform compatibility: The H13 and H16 series share the same battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. Both models draw current from a single 26650-format cell, so one battery covers the full range — including Pro variants — without any hardware modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell under combined load — detector heating element active, display at full brightness — and monitored the BMS across full discharge. Protection tripped at the correct low-voltage threshold with no premature cutoff or false full-charge readings.
- Thermal detector warm-up after swap: After fitting a fresh battery, power the camera on and wait 60 seconds before taking any measurements. The uncooled detector needs the internal electronics to stabilise thermally before it can establish an accurate baseline. Readings taken in the first 30 seconds will drift.
Thermal accuracy affected at low state of charge
The H13's microbolometer detector and its associated signal processing circuit are sensitive to supply voltage. As the cell discharges below roughly 3.5V, the detector bias voltage drops slightly, which shifts temperature readings by as much as 2–3°C before the low-battery indicator appears on screen. This is not a camera fault — it is a voltage-supply issue. If measurements start drifting or losing sharpness in cold conditions, check cell voltage rather than recalibrating the camera. Swap the battery when resting voltage drops below 3.5V under load.
Camera shuts down mid-inspection despite showing partial charge
The H13 runs two constant loads simultaneously — the detector heating element and the display backlight — which together pull more current than casual use estimates. An ageing or degraded cell can show 40–50% charge on the indicator but trip the BMS protection circuit the moment both loads spike simultaneously during image refresh. The result is an abrupt shutdown with no low-battery warning. A fresh cell resolves this: at 5000mAh and a stable internal resistance, the BMS has enough voltage headroom to handle the combined draw without hitting the protection threshold prematurely.

Frequently Asked Questions
My H13 keeps shutting off in the middle of a building scan even though the battery indicator still shows charge — what's happening?
The H13 runs both the detector heating element and the display simultaneously, which creates a combined current draw that a degraded cell can't sustain. The BMS trips on voltage sag under that dual load — not because the battery is empty, but because internal resistance has risen enough that voltage dips below the protection threshold. A new cell with lower internal resistance eliminates the sag. Confirm resting voltage is above 3.7V before heading into a job.
My thermal images look soft or the temperature readings seem off even when the battery shows half charge — is that a camera fault?
It's usually a voltage issue, not a camera fault. The microbolometer detector in the H13 is sensitive to supply voltage — once the cell drops below around 3.5V under load, the detector bias shifts and temperature accuracy degrades by 2–3°C before the low-battery icon appears. Check cell voltage under load; if it sags below 3.5V during use, replace the battery. Recalibrating the camera will not fix a supply voltage problem.
The replacement battery drains much faster on the H13 Pro than I expected during long site inspections — is something wrong?
The H13 Pro's uncooled detector runs a continuous internal heating element to keep the sensor at a stable operating temperature, which draws constant current regardless of whether you're actively capturing images. Extended inspections — particularly in cold environments where the heater works harder — accelerate cell depletion noticeably compared to intermittent use. This is normal for this device class. To extend time between swaps, keep the camera in a warm carry case between measurements so the heater doesn't have to compensate for ambient cold.
