Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Bissell 3789 / Cleanview XR Series — 24V Li-ion Replacement Battery (1638019)
This is a 24V 4000mAh (96Wh) lithium-ion replacement battery for the Bissell Cleanview XR cordless stick vacuum. It fits the 3789, 3789U, and 3797W models, among others. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds enough charge to complete a cleaning session.
- Cleanview XR platform fit: The 3789, 3789U, and 3797W share the same 24V battery rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell covers all three without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through the Cleanview XR charging cycle and confirmed the BMS communicates correctly with the dock, holds the full 24V nominal charge, and releases current cleanly under motor start load.
- Dock removal after full charge: The Cleanview XR dock does not terminate charge aggressively once full. Leave the battery on the dock indefinitely and the trickle current degrades cell capacity noticeably within months. Charge to full, then pull it off the dock.
Cordless vacuum losing suction before the battery indicator reaches low
This happens when the motor is drawing more current than rated, usually because the filter is partially blocked. A restricted airflow path forces the motor to work harder, which pulls the cell voltage down faster than the indicator expects. The BMS reads the voltage drop as normal load and doesn't flag a warning, but real capacity is being consumed faster than the display shows. Clean or replace the foam and post-motor filters before swapping the battery — a new cell will show the same behaviour on a clogged machine.
Motor cuts out mid-clean and then recovers after a few seconds
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When sustained suction restriction — from a blockage or a saturated filter — pushes draw above the cell's continuous current limit, the BMS cuts the output to protect the cells. After a few seconds the BMS resets and power returns. The fix is to clear the blockage or clean the filter, not to replace the battery. If the trip happens repeatedly on an unblocked machine with a new filter, check that the cell voltage at rest is at or above 21.6V before suspecting the battery itself.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Bissell Cleanview XR suction drops off well before the battery light shows it's low — is the new battery faulty?
The battery is most likely fine. A partially blocked filter forces the motor to pull more current than rated, which drains the cell voltage faster than the indicator is calibrated to track. The suction drop is a load problem, not a capacity problem. Clean the foam filter and the post-motor filter, then retest — suction should hold consistently through a full charge cycle.
The vacuum cuts out for a few seconds mid-clean, then comes back on its own — what's happening?
That's the battery BMS tripping on an overcurrent spike, which it does when sustained airflow restriction pushes motor draw above the cell's continuous current limit. The BMS resets automatically after a short pause, which is why the vacuum restarts. Clear any blockage in the brush roll or hose, then check the filters. If the cutout stops happening after that, the battery is working as intended — confirm the resting cell voltage is 24V before assuming the battery needs replacing.
The replacement battery is sitting on the dock but the charge indicator never shows a full charge — how do I know it's actually charging?
The Cleanview XR dock relies on a BMS handshake to confirm the cell is present and accepting charge. If the indicator stays static, remove the battery from the dock, wait 30 seconds, and reseat it firmly until it clicks — a loose connection breaks the handshake. If the indicator still doesn't progress, check the dock contacts for debris and verify the supply voltage at the wall outlet is stable. A battery that accepts a charge handshake should reach full charge within the time stated on the charger label, at which point you should remove it from the dock.
