Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

KOBOT RV351 / RV353 — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is a 14.4V 2600mAh Li-ion battery for the KOBOT RV351 and RV353 robotic vacuum cleaners. It powers the drive motors, suction fan, and navigation electronics. When the original cell degrades, suction drops early in the cycle and the unit returns to dock sooner than it should.
- RV351 and RV353 compatibility: Both models run the same 14.4V battery rail and use an identical connector and BMS communication protocol. One replacement cell covers both units without any wiring or adapter changes.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through motor-start loads and sustained suction draws. The BMS held voltage above the cutoff threshold under continuous operation and recovered cleanly from the inrush current spike at startup.
- Dock charging habit for RV-series units: Do not leave the RV351 or RV353 sitting on the dock between cleaning sessions permanently. These units trickle-charge continuously when docked, which degrades cell capacity faster than intermittent charge cycles. Charge to full, run a cleaning session, then return to dock only when the battery needs replenishing.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low
The RV351 draws higher current through the suction motor when the filter is partially blocked. As cell voltage sags under that elevated load, the BMS steps down power delivery before the indicator circuit registers a low-battery state. The vacuum appears to lose suction mid-session while the display still shows adequate charge. Clean the filter first — if suction restores after a filter clean, the battery is fine; if sag continues on a clean filter, the cell has lost usable capacity and needs replacement.
Motor cutting out and self-recovering during a cleaning session
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a mechanical fault. When the brush roll snags debris or carpet fibres restrict airflow, current draw spikes above the BMS protection threshold and the circuit opens to prevent cell damage. The RV351 pauses, the BMS resets after a few seconds, and the motor restarts. Clear the brush roll and check that the filter is not clogged — both restrictions push current draw into the trip range. If cut-outs continue on a clear brush roll and clean filter, verify the replacement battery is seated fully and the terminal voltage at startup reads at least 14.0V.

Frequently Asked Questions
My KOBOT RV351 finishes cleaning way sooner than it used to — is the new battery actually worse than the original?
A new cell returning short sessions usually points to a partially blocked filter forcing the motor to draw above its rated current, draining the battery faster than the cycle time suggests. Pull the filter out, clean it, and run another session. If the session length improves, the battery is fine — the motor was simply working harder than it should have been. If short sessions continue on a clean filter, check that the battery terminal voltage reads at least 14.0V before the unit leaves the dock.
The RV351 suction drops off mid-clean but the battery indicator still shows plenty of charge — what's happening?
The indicator circuit reads state of charge, not instantaneous voltage under load. When the motor draws high current through a dirty filter or partial blockage, cell voltage sags below what the motor needs to maintain suction — even while the indicator stays green. This is voltage sag under load, not a dead battery. Clean the filter and check the brush roll for hair wrap, then run another cycle to confirm suction holds steady throughout.
I left my RV353 on the dock for weeks and now the battery barely holds charge — did continuous docking kill it?
Yes — continuous dock charging on the RV-series applies a trickle charge indefinitely, and that sustained low-level current accelerates capacity fade in Li-ion cells over weeks. The cell degrades faster sitting on a full dock than it would through normal charge-discharge cycles. With a replacement battery, charge to full, remove the unit from the dock, and only return it when the battery actually needs charging. This single habit change significantly slows capacity loss on the new cell.
