Fits Black&Decker Classic HC 410E and HC400 series cordless vacuums, replaces OEM part 520102.
2.4V, 3000mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers full motor voltage across the cleaning cycle without sag.
Connector slides straight into the battery bay with a single locking tab — no orientation guessing.
We bench-tested the BMS against the original charger; full acceptance on first insertion, no fault codes.
Remove this battery from the charging dock immediately after reaching full charge — continuous dock contact causes rapid capacity fade in Ni-MH packs.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Black&Decker Classic HC 410E — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (520102)

This is a 2.4V, 3000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Black&Decker Classic HC 410E cordless handheld vacuum cleaner. It also fits the HC400, HC410, and HC410S models, along with 14 additional variants in the same Classic HC range. When the original cell can no longer hold a useful charge, this replacement restores the vacuum's ability to run the motor at full draw.

  • Classic HC series compatibility: These models share the same 2.4V single-cell architecture, connector footprint, and motor draw profile. The BMS expects the same charge curve across all variants, so one cell covers the full range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the HC 410E platform. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, and the motor reached full operating voltage without tripping overcurrent protection under standard carpet load.
  • Dock charging habit on the HC series: Do not leave the vacuum sitting on the charging dock between uses. These Ni-MH cells develop capacity fade significantly faster under continuous trickle charge. Charge to full, remove from the dock, and reconnect only when depleted.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

On the Classic HC series, the motor voltage sag begins well before the cell is fully discharged — especially when the filter is partially blocked. A restricted airpath forces the motor to draw more current than rated, which pulls cell voltage down faster than normal discharge. The vacuum loses noticeable suction while the indicator still reads mid-charge. Clean or replace the filter first, then test the battery; a blocked filter mimics a failing cell almost exactly.

Motor cutting out mid-clean then recovering after a few seconds

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When suction is sustained against a blockage — hair wrap at the nozzle, a clogged filter, or carpet fibres packed at the intake — current draw spikes past the BMS threshold and the protection circuit cuts output. The motor restarts once the BMS resets, typically within three to five seconds. Clear the blockage, then retry; if the cutout continues on a clean machine, check cell voltage under load — it should hold above 2.0V during motor run.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Black&Decker HC 410E runs for a while then the motor suddenly cuts out and restarts on its own — what's causing that?

That's a BMS overcurrent trip. When airflow is restricted — blocked filter, hair wrap at the nozzle, or debris at the intake — the motor draws more current than the protection circuit allows and it shuts output off temporarily. Clear the blockage completely, then retest. If the cutout continues on a fully clear machine, check that cell voltage holds above 2.0V while the motor is running.

The HC 410E suction feels weak almost immediately after a full charge — is the new battery faulty?

Weak suction from a freshly charged cell is almost always a blocked filter pulling the motor into high-current draw, which drags cell voltage down fast. The motor voltage sags under the extra load and suction drops even though the battery still has capacity. Remove and clean the filter before assuming the cell is the problem. If suction restores to normal after cleaning the filter, the battery is fine.

I've had my replacement 520102 cell for a few months and it already feels weaker than when it arrived — what happened?

Continuous dock charging degrades Ni-MH cells faster than almost any other usage pattern. Trickle charge held across a full cell causes gradual capacity loss that compounds over weeks. Stop leaving the vacuum on the dock between uses — charge it only when the battery is depleted, then remove it from the dock once it reaches full charge.
