Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Black&Decker FHV1200 TYPE 1 — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (INR18650-3S2P)
This is an 11.1V, 5200mAh lithium-ion replacement battery for the Black&Decker FHV1200 TYPE 1 cordless handheld vacuum. It replaces the original INR18650-3S2P pack using the same 3S2P 18650 cell configuration. When the original pack degrades and suction drops noticeably, swapping this battery restores the motor's full voltage supply.
- FHV1200 TYPE 1 fit: The TYPE 1 variant uses a specific connector orientation and BMS handshake tied to the INR18650-3S2P cell format. This replacement matches the 3S2P cell layout, connector, and communication protocol that the FHV1200's charge management expects.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full charge and discharge cycles on the FHV1200 motor platform. The BMS held stable across floor and upholstery attachments, with no false overcurrent trips under normal suction loads.
- Dock charging on the FHV1200: Do not leave the FHV1200 sitting on the charging dock permanently. Cordless vacuums on continuous dock power develop capacity fade significantly faster than packs charged only when depleted. Charge to full, then remove the unit from the dock.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low
This is a voltage sag issue, not a capacity issue. When the FHV1200 motor encounters restricted airflow — a partially blocked filter or a full dust cup — it pulls more current than rated. That extra draw drops cell voltage faster than the indicator tracks, so the motor slows while the LED still shows charge remaining. Clean the filter first. If sag continues on a new filter with a fresh battery, check the dust cup seal for gaps that reduce airflow pressure at the motor inlet.
Motor cuts out mid-use and recovers after a short pause
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. The FHV1200's battery management system cuts power when sustained current draw exceeds the safe threshold — typically triggered by prolonged restricted suction. After a short pause, the BMS resets and the motor starts again. The fix is to clear the restriction: remove the filter, tap out debris, and confirm the dust cup is not more than half full. If the cutout persists on a clean filter, verify cell voltage sits at or above 11.1V on a full charge before ruling out a deeper fault.

Frequently Asked Questions
My FHV1200 runs for a short time and then suction drops off noticeably — is this the battery or the filter?
Usually the filter. A partially blocked filter forces the motor to pull more current than the battery's BMS expects, which causes voltage to sag and suction to drop well before the charge indicator shows low. Remove and clean the filter, then empty the dust cup. If suction holds steady after that on a freshly charged battery sitting at 11.1V or above, the filter was the cause.
The FHV1200 cuts out during use, then starts again after I leave it for a minute — what triggers that?
That is the BMS tripping on an overcurrent condition. When the motor sustains a heavy draw — usually caused by a blocked filter or debris jammed at the nozzle — the battery management system cuts output to protect the cells, then resets after the thermal and current load drops. Clear the blockage and clean the filter before the next use. If the cutout keeps happening on a clean filter, check that the replacement pack charges fully to 11.1V before you start the vacuum.
I charged the new replacement battery continuously overnight on the dock and now it seems weaker — did I damage it?
Continuous dock charging is the most common cause of early capacity fade in cordless vacuums. The FHV1200 charger does not fully terminate charge once the pack is full — trickle current keeps flowing and stresses the cells over hours. The capacity loss from a single overnight overcharge is usually minor but cumulative damage adds up fast. Going forward, charge to full and remove the vacuum from the dock rather than leaving it plugged in between uses.
