After a few seconds the BMS resets and the vacuum restarts. Clear the blockage and check the filter before replacing the battery. If the trip still occurs on an unobstructed vacuum with a fully charged new cell, measure terminal voltage under load — it should hold above 5.4V during normal operation.

A restricted filter forces the motor to draw more current, which accelerates that sag. Clean the filter thoroughly, run a full charge cycle, and check whether suction holds longer. If the problem persists with a clean filter, measure terminal voltage at the battery contacts during use — a healthy cell should hold above 5.4V under load.

The M668 keeps cutting out after 10–15 seconds of use and then restarts on its own — what's causing that?

That pattern is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a charge problem. When airflow is blocked — clogged filter, hair on the brush roll, or a sealed nozzle — the motor pulls a current spike and the BMS cuts output to protect the cell. It resets automatically after a few seconds. Clear every blockage and re-test on a hard floor with no obstructions. If the trip still happens with nothing blocking airflow, the charger or dock connection may not be completing a full charge cycle — verify the terminal voltage reads 6.8–7.2V immediately after a full charge.

The replacement battery fades noticeably faster than it did when new, even after only a few weeks — what went wrong?

Continuous dock charging is the most common cause. Ni-MH cells lose capacity quickly when held on trickle charge indefinitely — the M668 dock is not designed for permanent storage charging. Charge the battery to full, remove the vacuum from the dock, and only return it when it needs charging again. After two or three proper charge-and-discharge cycles using this method, capacity typically stabilises at the rated 2000mAh level.
