This 14.4V, 5200mAh lithium-ion battery replaces the OEM pack in the Kärcher RCF 3 and RCV 5 cordless vacuum cleaners. It slots into the same battery compartment and connects through the same BMS interface as the factory unit. Capacity is sourced from the product specification — 74.88Wh total.

The RCF 3 motor draws harder when airflow is restricted — a partially blocked filter or brush roll forces higher current even at low dirt load. The BMS reads this sustained elevated draw as a near-depleted state and begins throttling motor voltage before the indicator registers low. The result is noticeable suction loss with charge still showing on the display. Clean the filter and check the brush roll for blockage first — this alone restores normal motor draw and eliminates premature throttling in most cases.
Motor cutting out mid-clean and then recovering after a pause
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When the suction path is blocked — packed filter, blocked nozzle, hair-wrapped brush roll — the motor spikes current trying to maintain airflow. The BMS cuts power to protect the cell, then resets after a short thermal recovery window. Clearing the blockage stops the cycle from repeating. If it persists with a clean filter and clear nozzle, check cell voltage under load — a healthy pack should hold above 12.5V during normal vacuuming.

The display still shows charge because cell voltage hasn't actually dropped — the load has spiked. Clean the filter first, then retest suction; in most cases that single step restores normal behaviour.
The motor cuts out for a few seconds then comes back on — is the battery faulty?
Not necessarily. The BMS trips on overcurrent when suction is restricted — a packed filter, blocked nozzle, or hair tangled around the brush roll can cause the motor to spike well above its normal draw. The BMS cuts power, resets after a short pause, and the motor restarts. Clear every blockage in the airflow path first. If the cutout continues with a clean, unobstructed vacuum, check that cell voltage under load holds above 12.5V.
The replacement battery fades much faster than the original did when it was new — what causes that?
Continuous dock charging is the most common cause of accelerated capacity fade in the RCF 3. The dock does not fully cut power once the battery reaches 100% — it holds the cell in a low-level trickle state that stresses lithium cells over weeks of standby. Remove the battery from the dock once fully charged and store it separately. Keeping charge cycles between 20% and 95% rather than always running to flat also slows cell degradation on this 14.4V chemistry.
