Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Miele Scout RX2 120 / RX3 120 — 14.52V Li-ion Replacement Battery (YCR-MT12)
This is a 14.52V Li-ion battery rated at 6800mAh (98.74Wh), built to fit the Miele Scout RX2 120 and Scout RX3 120 robotic vacuum cleaners. It replaces part number YCR-MT12 when the original cell degrades and the unit can no longer complete a full cleaning cycle. The battery powers the drive motors, suction motor, and onboard navigation sensors.
- Scout RX2 120 and RX3 120 compatibility: Both models share the same 14.52V battery architecture, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell fits both without modification or adapter.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this battery through charge and discharge cycles on Scout RX-series hardware. The BMS held voltage within spec under combined drive and suction motor load, and the charger handshake completed without error codes.
- Dock charging practice for robotic vacuums: Do not leave the Scout sitting on the charging dock permanently. Continuous trickle charging accelerates capacity fade in Li-ion cells. Charge the battery to full, then lift the unit off the dock until the next scheduled clean.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator shows low
The Scout's suction motor draws significantly more current when airflow is restricted — a partially blocked filter or debris-clogged inlet forces the motor to pull beyond its rated current. The BMS responds by throttling output voltage to stay within safe discharge limits, which the vacuum's control board interprets as reduced power rather than a battery fault. The battery indicator stays green because cell voltage hasn't actually dropped — it's the sustained overcurrent condition triggering the protection circuit. Clean the filter and check the inlet before replacing the battery.
Motor cuts out mid-cycle then recovers after a short pause
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a failed battery. When the Scout hits a sustained restriction — thick carpet, a tangled brush roll, or a blocked exhaust — current spikes sharply and the BMS disconnects the output to protect the cells. After the cells recover to above roughly 13.0V under no load, the BMS reconnects and the unit resumes. Clear the brush roll and check that the exhaust grille is unobstructed. If trips continue on open floor with a clean filter, the cell pack itself may be faulted and replacement is the correct fix.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Scout RX2 120 loses suction halfway through a room but the battery light still shows full — what's happening?
This is almost always a filter restriction, not a dead battery. A clogged filter forces the suction motor to draw more current than rated, so the BMS throttles output voltage to protect the cells — suction drops, but cell voltage stays high enough that the indicator stays green. Remove and tap out the fine filter, then check the inlet path for compacted debris. If suction recovers after cleaning the filter, the battery is fine.
My Scout cuts out for a few seconds then starts again on its own — is this a battery fault?
Not necessarily. The BMS trips and disconnects output when current spikes beyond its protection threshold — this happens most often when the brush roll is tangled or the vacuum transitions from hard floor to thick carpet. The unit pauses while the cells recover, then the BMS reconnects. Check the brush roll for hair wrap and clear the exhaust grille. If the unit cuts out repeatedly on clean, open floor with no blockage, the cell pack is likely degraded and this replacement battery is the correct fix.
The replacement battery charged fully, but after a few weeks the Scout is running noticeably shorter cleaning cycles — did I get a bad cell?
Probably not a bad cell — more likely dock charging damage. Li-ion cells in robotic vacuums degrade faster when left on the dock continuously, because the charger applies a low-level trickle charge that stresses cells over time. Remove the Scout from the dock once the charge indicator shows full and store it off the dock between uses. If capacity still fades after correcting the charging habit, check that the filter is clean — a restricted filter makes the motor work harder and draws more charge per session.
