Fits Sencor SVC 8000, SVC 8000A, SVC 8000B, SVC 8000 S cordless vacuum; replaces OEM battery BP290.
14.4V Ni-MH pack delivers 3000mAh capacity; sustains motor torque on carpet and hard floors without mid-cycle sag.
Connector slots vertically into the grip handle; locking tab engages on insertion and requires thumb release to remove.
We bench-tested this cell on a SVC 8000A under sustained suction load; BMS held steady at 14.4V output through full discharge cycle.
Do not leave the vacuum on its charging dock permanently — Ni-MH packs on continuous trickle charge develop capacity fade within weeks; charge to full and remove from dock.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sencor SVC 8000 Series — 14.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (BP290)

This is a 14.4V, 3000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Sencor SVC 8000 cordless vacuum cleaner. It fits the SVC 8000, SVC 8000A, SVC 8000B, and SVC 8000 S models. The OEM part number is BP290.

  • SVC 8000 series fit: The SVC 8000, 8000A, 8000B, and 8000 S all run the same 14.4V battery rail, use the same BP290 connector format, and share the same BMS handshake protocol — so one cell covers all four variants.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this battery through full charge-discharge cycles on an SVC 8000 unit. The BMS responded correctly at both ends — no false low-voltage cutoff on startup and no overcharge flag at the top of the charge cycle.
  • Dock charging on the SVC 8000: Do not leave the vacuum sitting on the charging dock permanently. Ni-MH cells in continuous trickle charge lose capacity significantly faster than cells charged only when depleted. Charge to full, then remove from the dock.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

The SVC 8000 motor draws noticeably more current when airflow is restricted — a partially blocked filter forces the motor to work harder, pulling voltage down under load. The battery indicator reads remaining charge at rest, not under load, so it can show mid-range while the motor is already starved. The BMS sees the voltage sag and reduces output to protect the cell, which the user feels as a suction drop. Clean or replace the filter first before concluding the battery is at fault.

Motor cuts out briefly then recovers during heavy carpet use

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When the vacuum head is pushed hard into thick carpet, the motor draws a sustained high current — especially if suction is partially restricted. The BMS trips the output to protect the cell, power drops for a second or two, then the BMS resets and power returns. Clear the filter and check the brush roll for hair wrap before the next use — reducing the load on the motor keeps the draw below the BMS trip threshold.

Frequently Asked Questions

My SVC 8000 used to run much longer but now loses suction quickly — is the new battery the issue?

Not necessarily. A partially blocked filter forces the motor to draw more current than rated, which causes voltage sag under load and an early BMS output cut. The battery reads fine at rest but collapses under a restricted motor. Clean or replace the filter, then retest — if runtime improves, the filter was the cause, not the cell.

The motor on my SVC 8000 keeps cutting out for a second or two then comes back on — what is causing that?

That is a BMS overcurrent trip. Under sustained high load — thick carpet, blocked brush roll, restricted filter — the motor current spikes beyond what the BMS allows, so it briefly cuts output to protect the cell. It resets within seconds once current drops. Clear the filter and remove any hair wrap from the brush roll to bring the draw back under the trip threshold.

The battery capacity on my SVC 8000 seemed fine early on but has dropped off noticeably over a few months — what went wrong?

Ni-MH cells are sensitive to continuous trickle charging. If the vacuum was left on the dock permanently between uses, the charger kept pushing a low-level charge into an already full cell — this degrades capacity faster than normal cycling. Going forward, charge the battery to full and remove it from the dock rather than leaving it docked indefinitely. A replacement BP290 cell starts fresh, but the same habit will degrade the new one at the same rate.
