Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Vileda M-H498 — 14.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (91706363)
This is a 14.4V, 3000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Vileda M-H498 cordless handheld vacuum. It fits using OEM part number 91706363. Order this when the original pack no longer holds charge or the vacuum loses suction well before the battery indicator drops.
- M-H498 platform fit: The M-H498 runs a 14.4V Ni-MH architecture with a specific cell count and connector orientation. This replacement matches that cell configuration, so the charger and BMS communicate the same way they did with the factory pack.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the M-H498's motor load profile. The BMS held steady across standard floor and upholstery suction modes, with no overcurrent trips on clean filters.
- Dock charging habit on the M-H498: The M-H498 charger does not automatically cut off once the pack is full. Leaving the vacuum on the dock continuously applies a trickle current that degrades Ni-MH cells faster than regular charge cycles. Charge to full, then remove it from the dock.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator shows low
Ni-MH cells under load show a voltage sag that the indicator circuit does not always register as low battery. When the motor draws higher current — through a partially blocked filter or a dense carpet pass — cell voltage dips enough to reduce motor speed and suction, even while the indicator still reads mid-range. This is not a faulty battery reading; it is real voltage drop under load. Clean or replace the filter first, then retest. If suction recovers, the filter was the cause, not the pack.
Motor cutting out mid-use and then recovering after a few seconds
This pattern is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When airflow is restricted — blocked filter, full dust cup, or a jammed nozzle — the motor works harder and draws current above the BMS threshold. The BMS cuts the circuit to protect the cells, then resets after a short cool-down. Clear the blockage and empty the dust cup before the next run. If the cutout persists on a clean filter with this replacement pack, check that the dust cup seal is seated correctly, as air leaks force the motor to compensate by drawing more current.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Vileda M-H498 won't charge at all with the new battery — the charger light just stays off. What's wrong?
The M-H498 charger expects a BMS handshake from the pack before it begins charging. If the replacement cells arrived deeply discharged from storage, the pack voltage may be too low for the charger to recognise. Connect the battery and leave it on the charger for 30 minutes without disturbing it — some chargers need that window to detect a minimum voltage before the charge light activates. If there is still no response, measure the pack voltage at the terminals with a multimeter; a reading below 10V on a 14.4V Ni-MH pack indicates a deep-discharge state that requires a recovery charge or a different charger capable of low-voltage conditioning.
The M-H498 seems to run flat much faster than it used to, even with a new battery. Could the filter be causing it?
A partially blocked filter is one of the most common causes of accelerated apparent battery drain in this vacuum. When airflow is restricted, the motor compensates by drawing more current than its rated load, which depletes the pack faster than the battery capacity alone would suggest. Remove, clean, and dry the filter completely before concluding the battery capacity is at fault. If run duration improves noticeably after a filter clean, the battery is fine — the filter was forcing the motor to overwork.
The M-H498 was on the charging dock for weeks and now it barely runs. Is the battery gone?
Continuous dock charging is the leading cause of capacity fade in Ni-MH cordless vacuum batteries. The M-H498 charger does not switch to a true maintenance mode when the pack is full, so prolonged docking applies a low-level current that gradually degrades cell chemistry. Run the pack through two or three full discharge-and-charge cycles — use the vacuum until it stops, then charge fully and remove from the dock — to check whether capacity recovers. Going forward, charge only when the vacuum is depleted, then unplug it from the dock.
