Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

3M TR-300+ / TR-800 PAPR — 12.6V Li-ion Replacement Battery (TR-830)
This 12.6V 4000mAh (50.4Wh) Li-ion battery replaces the OEM TR-830 pack in the 3M TR-300+ Powered Air Respirator, TR-800 PAPR, and Versaflo Intrinsically Safe units. It powers the motorized blower unit that delivers filtered air to the respirator hood. Capacity figures are from product data — do not rely on web listings that cite conflicting numbers.
- TR-300+, TR-800, and Versaflo IS compatibility: These three units share the same 12.6V three-cell Li-ion architecture, the same battery bay connector, and the same BMS handshake protocol — which is why a single TR-830-format pack covers all three platforms without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through blower motor start-up cycles on the TR-300+ and TR-800. The BMS handled the inrush current at motor start without tripping into overcurrent lockout, and the pack held stable voltage under sustained blower load throughout the test session.
- Post-install blower calibration: After fitting this battery, run the airflow check cycle from the unit's control menu before entering a hazardous area. The PAPR maps available capacity during that cycle — skipping it can cause the low-battery indicator to trigger early during the first shift, even with a full charge.
Why the TR-300+ blower cuts out on motor start despite a charged pack
The TR-300+ blower motor draws a short inrush current spike at start-up that can exceed the overcurrent threshold of a degraded or poorly matched BMS. When that threshold trips, the pack shuts output before the motor reaches running speed — the unit goes dark even though the battery shows charge. A fresh pack with a correctly rated BMS clears this. If the problem persists after fitting a new battery, check that the battery bay contacts are clean and seating fully, as a high-resistance connection amplifies the apparent current spike seen by the BMS.
Pack will not charge after the PAPR sat unused for several months
Li-ion cells that self-discharge below approximately 2.5V per cell (7.5V total for a 3S pack) cause the BMS to enter deep-discharge lockout — the charger sees no response and the unit will not power on. Connect the TR-830 pack to the OEM charger and leave it for at least 30 minutes without disconnecting; some chargers apply a low-current recovery pulse before resuming normal charge. If the charger LED remains in fault state after 45 minutes, the cells have dropped below recoverable threshold and the pack needs replacement. A healthy pack that has been stored should recover to a normal charge cycle within that window.

Frequently Asked Questions
The TR-300+ blower starts but shuts off after a few seconds — why does this keep happening with a new battery?
This is a BMS overcurrent trip caused by sustained motor load exceeding the pack's continuous discharge rating — it's different from a start-up inrush trip. Check that the blower inlet and exhaust ports are clear; a blocked airflow path forces the motor to draw more current to maintain speed, pushing load above the BMS cutoff threshold. Clean the filters and retry. If the unit still shuts off, confirm the battery bay contacts are free of corrosion, as a resistive connection raises effective current draw at the BMS sense circuit.
My TR-800 PAPR shows a full charge on the indicator but the blower weakens noticeably after about an hour of use — is the battery faulty?
Voltage-threshold indicators on the TR-800 read cell voltage at rest, not under load — a pack with early capacity fade can show full at rest but sag significantly once the blower motor draws sustained current. This causes real airflow reduction even though the display looks fine. Run the unit's airflow verification cycle with a calibrated flow meter; if measured flow drops below the rated level before the indicator signals low battery, the pack's usable capacity is lower than the indicator threshold assumes. A replacement pack at rated 4000mAh will restore consistent flow across the shift.
The TR-300+ won't power on at all after the battery was left in the unit over the off-season — charger just blinks an error.
Cells left in a stored unit self-discharge over months; below roughly 7.5V total pack voltage the BMS enters deep-discharge lockout and blocks both charging and output. Connect to the OEM charger and leave undisturbed for 45 minutes — the charger applies a trickle recovery pulse before attempting full charge, and interrupting it resets the attempt. If the charger fault light stays on after 45 minutes, measure pack voltage at the battery terminals; a reading below 6V means the cells are below recovery threshold and the pack must be replaced.
