  • VN7 series compatibility: The VN7-791G, VN7-792G, and VN7-793G all share the same 15.2V four-cell battery architecture and use identical connector pinouts and BMS handshake protocols — that is why one cell covers the full VN7 lineup.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a VN7-793G unit. The BMS initialised correctly, the BIOS recognised the pack within one boot cycle, and the charge controller stepped through CC/CV phases without flagging any pack errors.

Why the V17 Nitro BIOS reports poor health immediately after a battery swap

The V17 Nitro stores battery health data in EEPROM on the old pack. When a new cell goes in, the BIOS reads that stale EEPROM data and flags the battery as degraded before it has run a single cycle. This is not a fault with the replacement cell — it is the BIOS comparing fresh chemistry against historical wear metrics it inherited. Running the full discharge-to-hibernate then uninterrupted charge-to-100% sequence overwrites the learn cycle and forces the BIOS to build a new health baseline. After two to three full cycles, the health indicator normalises.

Laptop shuts down at 20–30% charge shown on the V17 Nitro

This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual voltage curve. The IC is still using the old cell's discharge profile, so it misreads the voltage cliff and triggers a shutdown well before the cell is actually empty. The fix is to let the laptop discharge naturally to hibernate-cutoff — do not force-shutdown — then charge to 100% uninterrupted. Repeat this two to three times. After calibration, the OS fuel gauge tracks accurately and the early shutdown stops.

Windows is showing this battery as 66Wh but the system info says something different from what the old battery reported — is the cell wrong?

The old cell's EEPROM held its original rated capacity; the replacement cell's EEPROM holds 66.88Wh as rated at manufacture. Both figures reflect what is written to EEPROM — neither is a real-time reading. Run two full calibration cycles and the fuel gauge IC will report accurately against the actual cell chemistry. The V17 Nitro stops charging at exactly 80% and never goes higher — is this a fault with the replacement cell?

No — this is a BIOS-controlled charge limit, not a battery fault. Acer's firmware on some V17 Nitro builds includes a battery care setting that caps charge at 80% to reduce cell stress. Check the Acer Care Center application under "Battery Health Manager" and switch the mode from "Balanced" to "Maximum Capacity." Once changed, plug in and the charge controller will allow the full charge-to-100% CV phase to complete.
