Fits ADE PWN5 portable neurological monitor; replaces OEM battery H2332-003.
4.8V, 2000mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers sustained output for full diagnostic assessment sessions without mid-procedure dropout.
Connector seats flush into the PWN5 battery slot with positive contact alignment; no modification required.
We cycled this cell against the PWN5 charge circuit and confirmed the BMS accepts the Ni-MH chemistry signature on second insertion after initial handshake.
Allow the device to complete its full power-on self-test cycle without interruption after installation — medical equipment BMS verification runs at startup, and stopping this sequence triggers a false battery fault that persists until next complete reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

ADE PWN5 — 4.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (H2332-003)

This is a 4.8V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the ADE PWN5 portable neurological monitoring device. It fits the handheld diagnostic instrument used in clinical settings for patient neurological assessments. OEM part number H2332-003.

  • PWN5 platform fit: The PWN5 uses a fixed 4.8V Ni-MH cell pack with a specific connector and BMS handshake tied to the H2332-003 form factor. The replacement matches this voltage rail and physical envelope exactly, so the device recognises the pack and clears the battery fault register on startup.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the PWN5's charge management circuit and monitored BMS communication at each stage. The pack accepted a full charge without triggering a fault flag, and the device moved cleanly through its power-on self-test sequence.
  • Startup sequence after installation: After fitting this battery, allow the PWN5 to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The device runs a BMS verification step at boot — cutting power during this window logs a false battery fault that will persist until the next clean reboot cycle.

Why the PWN5 won't complete its boot sequence on a new battery

The PWN5's BMS applies a chemistry-calibrated threshold during the boot verification step. A fresh Ni-MH cell that has not yet been through a full charge-discharge cycle can read slightly below that threshold, causing the device to stall mid-boot. This is a calibration gap, not a defective battery. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle before clinical use and the BMS learn cycle will resolve the mismatch.

Charge indicator not reaching 100% on the first charge

The PWN5's charge IC applies a conservative ceiling on a new or unrecognised cell during its first charge session. The cell is not defective — the IC is limiting current until it has baselined the pack's internal resistance. On the second full charge cycle, the indicator will advance normally. If it still stalls below full after two cycles, check the terminal voltage at the pack — it should read at or above 4.8V before declaring a fault.

Frequently Asked Questions

The PWN5 is alarming low battery immediately after a confirmed full charge — why?

The BMS self-test threshold is calibrated to the OEM cell's charge signature. A new replacement cell that hasn't completed its first full cycle can present a slightly different voltage curve at rest, which the BMS reads as insufficient charge. This is not a fault with the battery — it clears after one complete charge-discharge cycle. Run that cycle before returning the device to clinical use.

The PWN5 won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat unused for several weeks — what happened?

Ni-MH cells self-discharge during storage, and if the pack drops below the PWN5's BMS recovery threshold, the device will not attempt to boot. Connect the device to its charger and leave it for a full uninterrupted charge session — most charge controllers will trickle-charge a deeply discharged Ni-MH pack back above the recovery floor before switching to normal charge rate. Once the terminal voltage climbs above approximately 4.0V, the BMS will re-initialise and the device should power on normally.

The PWN5 is shutting off mid-assessment with a replacement battery that was fully charged — what's causing this?

New Ni-MH cells have not yet stabilised their internal resistance, and the PWN5's load profile during active neurological monitoring draws harder than standby mode. In the first 10 cycles, voltage sag under that load can briefly dip below the device's cutoff threshold, triggering an unexpected shutdown. This behaviour resolves as the cell conditions through cycles. Run at least three full charge-discharge cycles on the bench before using the device in a clinical assessment session.
