Fits AEG BBM 18 STX drill and replaces OEM part numbers B 18, BXL 18, BXS 18, MX 18, MXM 18, MXS 18.
18V 2000mAh Ni-MH delivers steady voltage for drilling and fastening without the sag typical of older packs.
Slide connector mates flush into the drill housing with a positive lock tab that requires firm seating.
We bench-tested the BMS on inrush current — no premature cutoff on trigger pull or sustained 40A motor load.
On first use, run the drill at half throttle for two cycles before maximum torque applications to let the BMS set overcurrent protection thresholds.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

AEG BBM 18 STX Series — 18V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (B 18 / BXS 18)

This is an 18V Ni-MH replacement battery rated at 2000mAh (36Wh) for AEG 18V cordless drills and drivers. It fits the BBM 18 STX, BDSE 18 STX, BDSE 18 T Super Torque, BSB 18STX, and several other AEG 18V platform tools. OEM part references include B 18, BXL 18, BXS 18, MX 18, MXM 18, MXS 18, and Atlas Copco equivalents BX 18 and B 18.

  • AEG 18V platform fit: These models share the same 18V slide-rail connector, cell-count configuration, and BMS handshake protocol. The pack slots directly into any tool on this platform without adapter modifications.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack on a BBM 18 STX through repeated motor-start cycles. The BMS responded correctly to inrush current spikes and did not trip false overcurrent events during normal trigger-pull sequences.
  • Break-in cycle for new Ni-MH packs: Run the tool at half load for two full discharge-charge cycles before maximum torque applications. This lets the BMS map the motor inrush draw and calibrate its overcurrent thresholds before you push the pack hard.

BMS cutoff on motor-start inrush surge in the BBM 18 STX

When you pull the trigger on a drill under load, current demand spikes sharply before the motor reaches speed. On Ni-MH packs that have been sitting unused, internal resistance rises and that spike can momentarily breach the BMS overcurrent threshold. The pack shuts off as a protection response — not a cell failure. Two break-in cycles at reduced load lower the effective inrush spike and keep the BMS from cutting out mid-task.

Tool bogs down under sustained load but recovers at rest

Voltage sag under sustained load is a known Ni-MH behaviour — as current draw rises, terminal voltage drops below what the motor controller expects. If the tool slows noticeably during long screw-driving runs but recovers after a short rest, check the rail contacts first. Oxidised or dirty contacts add resistance and amplify sag. Clean the battery terminal rails with isopropyl alcohol and confirm contact pressure before assuming the cells are at fault.

Frequently Asked Questions

My BBM 18 STX cuts out the instant I pull the trigger under load — is the battery tripping?

Yes — this is a BMS overcurrent trip triggered by motor-start inrush current. On a new or storage-rested Ni-MH pack, internal resistance is higher, which amplifies the current spike the BMS sees at trigger pull. Run two half-load discharge-charge cycles first to condition the pack and lower that effective spike. If it still cuts out, clean the rail contacts and check for oxidation adding contact resistance.

The charger light blinks and never moves to a steady charge — what's happening?

Ni-MH packs that have self-discharged below roughly 1V per cell can fall under the charger's acceptance voltage threshold, causing it to reject the pack or blink an error. Some AEG chargers have a recovery or conditioning mode — check the charger label for a "recovery" or "refresh" button and activate it. If no recovery mode exists, a brief trickle charge at low current using a compatible Ni-MH charger can bring the pack back above acceptance threshold before normal charging resumes.

The drill feels weak in cold weather even with a charged pack — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong with the pack itself. Ni-MH internal resistance rises sharply below 5°C, which increases voltage sag under load and reduces effective output. The tool will feel sluggish and may bog on harder materials. Warm the battery to room temperature before use — even 15 minutes indoors is enough to bring internal resistance back down to normal operating range.
