This is a 36V Li-ion replacement battery for AL-KO cordless lawn mowers, rated at 3000mAh (108Wh). It fits the 38.4LI, DC-3630LI, Comfort 38.4 Li, and over 80 compatible AL-KO mower models. OEM part numbers covered include 91132807, 113124, 113126, 113280, B150, and B200.

  • 38.4LI and DC-3630LI platform fit: These models share the same 36V battery rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One pack covers the full range without any adapter or firmware mismatch.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through a full charge-discharge cycle on the AL-KO platform and monitored BMS response under simulated blade-motor inrush. Cell voltages balanced correctly and the protection circuit responded within spec on over-current events.
  • Seasonal storage tip: If the mower has sat unused since autumn, bring the battery indoors overnight before the first spring use. Cells below 10°C carry higher internal resistance, and the blade motor's inrush current on a cold pack can trip the BMS before the blades reach full speed.

BMS cutoff on thick grass and wet-lawn blade load

The AL-KO 38.4LI blade motor draws a sharp inrush current every time it bites into dense or wet grass. If the battery's state of charge is already low, the BMS reads that spike as an over-current event and shuts the pack down to protect the cells. This is normal protection behaviour, not a battery fault. Let the pack cool for five minutes, then resume on a lighter row to confirm the BMS resets cleanly.

Charger won't accept the pack after winter storage

Li-ion cells left in a garage over winter can self-discharge below the charger's acceptance threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell. When the pack voltage is too low, the charger reads it as a fault and refuses to start a charge cycle. Some AL-KO chargers include a recovery or "wake-up" mode — connect the pack and hold the charge button for 5–10 seconds to initiate a low-current pre-charge. If the charger begins the cycle, allow it to complete fully before using the mower.

My AL-KO 38.4LI cuts out halfway across the lawn then starts again after a few minutes — what's happening?

That's thermal protection activating. The blade motor generates sustained heat under load, and once the pack temperature hits the BMS cutoff threshold, the circuit opens until the cells cool. It's not a fault — it's the battery protecting itself. Allow a five-minute rest in the shade, then continue; if it trips repeatedly on a cool day, check that the blade isn't clogged and slowing under extra resistance.

The pack feels noticeably warmer than my old battery during the first few charges — is something wrong?

New Li-ion cells run slightly warmer for the first four to five cycles while they condition. The internal resistance is marginally higher out of the box, and the BMS works harder balancing cells that haven't settled yet. This is normal and the heat should reduce after the first few full charge-discharge cycles. If the pack is still unusually warm after six cycles, check that the charger contacts are clean and making full contact.

The mower runs noticeably weaker on cold mornings compared to when it's warm — is the battery failing?

No — Li-ion cells lose usable capacity below 10°C because cold increases their internal resistance, which limits current delivery to the blade motor. The pack isn't damaged; it's reacting to temperature. Bring the battery inside for a few hours before mowing on cold mornings, and you'll see full blade speed restored once the cells are above 10°C.
