Fits Flymo 1200R cordless mulching mower; replaces original 18V battery pack.
18V 2500mAh Li-ion cell delivers enough current for sustained blade load on residential lawns.
Connector slides straight into the mower's battery slot with positive contact posts aligned.
We ran three full-discharge cycles on a 1200R test unit; BMS held stable under normal cutting load.
Before first spring use, bring this battery indoors overnight if stored below 10°C — cold cells have higher resistance and blade motor inrush can trip the BMS cutoff prematurely.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Flymo 1200R — 18V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 18V 2500mAh Li-ion battery fits the Flymo 1200R cordless rotary lawn mower, including the 2013 and 2014 model years. It slots directly into the mower's battery bay and connects to the same charging circuit as the original pack. Voltage and capacity match the factory specification at 18V and 2500mAh (45Wh).

  • 1200R compatibility: All listed 1200R variants share the same 18V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. A single cell configuration covers the full model range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through the 1200R's startup cycle and monitored BMS response under simulated blade-load conditions. The protection circuit held correctly at both low-voltage cutoff and overcurrent thresholds during motor inrush.
  • Seasonal storage tip: Before the first mow of spring, bring the battery indoors overnight if temperatures are below 10°C. Cold Li-ion cells have higher internal resistance, and the blade motor's inrush current can trip the BMS on a cold pack before the mower completes a single pass.

BMS cutoff on thick-grass and wet-grass blade load

The 1200R blade motor draws significantly more current through dense or wet grass than on a dry, short lawn. If the BMS reads a current spike beyond its overcurrent threshold — typically caused by the blade bogging down — it cuts the pack to protect the cells. This shows as a sudden full power-off, not a gradual fade. Let the pack rest for 30 seconds, then resume on a lower-resistance section of lawn to reset the protection circuit.

Charger refusing to accept the pack after winter storage

Li-ion cells left in storage without a top-up charge can discharge below the minimum acceptance voltage — typically around 2.5V per cell. Most Flymo chargers will not initiate a charge cycle on a pack in this state and show a fault light instead. To recover the pack, some chargers have a recovery or boost mode; consult your charger's indicator sequence. If the charger accepts the pack in recovery mode, charge it fully before the first mow and check resting voltage sits above 17V before use.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Flymo 1200R cuts out halfway through a row and then starts again after a short pause — what's happening?

This is thermal protection activating, not a faulty battery. The blade motor generates sustained heat under load, and once the pack's temperature sensor hits its cutoff threshold, the BMS shuts output until the cells cool. Allow a 5-minute rest with the mower stationary. If it keeps happening on every row, check that the blade isn't clogged — restricted airflow around the deck raises motor load and trips thermal cutoff faster.

The new battery feels noticeably warmer than my old one after charging — is that normal?

Yes, for the first several cycles. New cells go through a conditioning phase where internal resistance is slightly higher than it will be after the chemistry stabilises. That extra resistance converts a small amount of charge energy to heat. After 4–5 full charge and discharge cycles, the pack temperature during charging should settle to what you'd expect. If the pack is too hot to hold comfortably after cycle 6 or beyond, stop using it and check the charger output voltage — it should read 21.6V at termination.

My 1200R feels sluggish on the first cold morning of the season even with a fully charged battery — is the battery failing?

It's not failure — it's Li-ion chemistry behaving normally below 10°C. Cold cells have higher internal resistance, which reduces the current they can deliver to the blade motor. The mower runs at reduced power until the cells warm up through use. To minimise it, store the battery indoors the night before a cold-morning mow and fit it to the mower just before you start — resting voltage should still read above 17V on a cold but fully charged pack.
