This 3.7V, 2800mAh lithium-polymer battery replaces OEM part TLp028B2 in the Alcatel OT-8055 and related Pixi 3 (7) tablets. It also fits the OT-8057 and OT-9002X. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds a usable charge through a normal day of screen-on use.

  • OT-8055 / OT-8057 / OT-9002X platform fit: These models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The TLp028B2 cell works across the group without any adapter or wiring change.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge and discharge on the OT-8055 platform. The BMS accepted the cell on first connection, reported voltage correctly to the OS, and held the charge curve through a full cycle without cutoff errors.
  • Fuel gauge reset after installation: After fitting this cell, run one full discharge to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This recalibrates the fuel gauge IC against the new cell and clears the percentage drift that typically appears immediately after a swap.

The OT-8055 draws hardest when the display is at full brightness with WiFi actively transferring data. At that combined load, the battery voltage sags faster than the fuel gauge predicts. The system reads that sag as a critically low cell and triggers an emergency shutdown before the reported percentage reaches zero. Running one full discharge-to-shutoff cycle after installation tightens the fuel gauge model against the actual cell voltage curve and pushes that premature cutoff threshold down to a realistic level.

The fuel gauge IC on the Pixi 3 (7) board stores calibration data from the old cell — it does not auto-detect a new one on first boot. Until recalibrated, it can report anything from 40% to 80% on a fully charged new cell. Discharge the tablet to automatic shutoff, then charge it in one uninterrupted session to 100%. That single cycle writes new calibration data to the IC and the percentage display stabilises. If drift persists after one cycle, run a second full discharge-charge and confirm charger voltage is at least 5V.

No hardware is broken. Plug in with the original charger and let it run one full uninterrupted charge to 100% without pulling the cable early. Fast charge typically resumes on the second charge session after that cycle completes.

My Alcatel Pixi 3 (7) battery percentage drops faster from 100% than it did with the old battery — is the new cell faulty?

It is not faulty — the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. The new cell has a slightly different voltage slope, so the gauge reads it as depleting faster than it actually is. Run one full discharge to automatic shutoff followed by a full uninterrupted charge to 100%. This forces the IC to map the new cell's actual voltage curve and the percentage drop rate normalises from the next cycle onward.

The OT-8055 feels warm near the charging port while charging the new battery — is that normal?

Some warmth is expected. The charge IC on the board is working harder on the first few cycles as it characterises the new cell's internal resistance. Surface temperature at the back panel should stay below approximately 40°C during a standard 5V charge. If the tablet becomes hot to the touch or the OS throws a temperature warning, disconnect immediately and check that the connector is fully seated — a partially inserted connector increases resistance and heat at the contact point.
